This is a really stoopid non-issue, imo. The law has been followed. The official that had a direct obligation to verify the certificate of live birth has announced their findings.

So the LAW has been followed, ( screw the constitution!). Would this not open the door for old Arnie? He could say that this set the precedent for a non-natural born citizen, to be President.

However, a group of what I consider ignorant sore losers has decided the general public needs to see the original certificate rather than following proscribed law.  lw

I use to do a fair bit of antique dealing, (somewhat of an expert in fact!) & if I'm looking at an antique piece of furniture and it's got a modern stamp labeled "Ikea" under the seat & a guy is telling me it's a Burgatti original. I'm not going to buy it.

The document posted by WND purports to have been produced by the "Republic of Kenya" on February 17, 1964. But Kenya didn't even become a republic until December 12, 1964.

If you actually read the paper cutting they are going from it clearly state 1963??
Independence was achieved in 12th December 1963, and a republic was declared in 1964.
The mystery deepens.

Fun thing I saw on BoingBoing:

First, the hospital is Coast Provincial General Hospital (sometimes said to be Coast Province General Hospital), not Coast General Hospital.

Second, Kenya was a Dominion the date this certificate was allegedly issued and would not become a republic for 8 months. Third, Mombasa belonged to Zanzibar when Obama was born, not Kenya.

Fourth, Obama's father's village would be nearer to Nairobi, not Mombasa.

Fifth, the number 47O44-- 47 is Obama's age when he became president, followed by the letter O (not a zero) followed by 44--he is the 44th president.

Sixth, EF Lavender is a laundry detergent. Seventh, would a nation with a large number of Muslims actually say "Christian name" (as opposed to name) on the birth certificate?

Eighth, his father (born in 1961) would have been 24 or 25 when he was born and not 26.

Ninth, it was called the "Central Nyanza District," not Nyanza Province. The regions were changed to provinces in 1970.

Very mysterious! Why would an authentic birth certificate have so many errors??

Mombasa was part of the state of Zanzibar until 12 December 1963 when it was ceded to be incorporated into the newly independent state of Kenya.
Deeper still; Kenyatta;
In 1961 and 1962, he led the KANU delegation to first and second Lancaster Conference in London where Kenya's independence constitution was negotiated.
Elections were then held in May 1963, pitting Kenyatta's KANU (Kenya African National Union- which advocated for Kenya to be a unitary state) against KADU (Kenya African Democratic Union- which advocated for Kenya to be an ethnic-federal state). KANU beat KADU by winning 83 seats out of 124. On June 1 1963, Kenyatta became prime minister of the autonomous Kenyan government, with the Queen of England through a governor remaining head of state. He consistently asked white settlers not to leave Kenya and supported reconciliation.
Kenyatta retained the role of prime minister after independence was declared on December 12, 1963.
On June 1, 1964, Kenyatta became President when he successfully had Parliament amend the Constitution to make Kenya a republic with his office becoming executive President: the head of State, head of Government, and Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces.

Reality? The big yawn that the "birther" movement birthed?

Don't you hear the pages being ripped from your constitution?

Loudly and clearly, but that doesn't require any process of constitutional amendment. All it takes is a wilful ignoring of the constitution by the executive and legislative branches, and a willingness to interpret the constitution liberally by the judicial branch. We have all of those things currently. No amendments needed.

"Soon" is a very fuzzy word. I would say we already have that, have had it for decades.

But in the context of predictions, "soon" is kind of like a get-out-of-jail-free card. You've made a lot of predictions on this board, and none of them would have been true, save for the fact that "soon" can mean anything you want it to mean.
