In this wondrous world I never made
Preach of love and always teach me hate.
Teach me to despise the man next door,
Pray for peace and send me off to war,

Talk about the country of the free,
Freedom's good for you but not for me.
Got my rights and they're good as gold
Long as I do just like I am told.

All the bits and pieces taught in school,
Always they leave out the golden rule.
Color people black and white and red,
Never trust an Indian till he's dead.

Teach me life is death and peace is war,
Never stop to ask who's keeping score.
Teach me how to hate to get ahead.
Teach me not to weep when love lies dead.

THis day we accomplish more  our task
of receiving  into us the visible,
making it invisible,
the visible passing in through us
as though we were merely holes
or eyes,
and on past us, past self
floating like an edge
or a membrane floating,
into endless dimension...
and at last
rising back toward us
and wanting then
back out through us,
a new genesis
of giving.
