Looking for Ayahuasca people in Colorado (have done it once)

Hello all, I have experienced Aya last spring and it was amazing (also wrote an essay on it for psychology class). I still would like to plan future experiments since I have plenty of each herb left over and I know there is much more to see/experience. However, none of my friends have any interest (or bravery) to try it. Its not likely that I am going to find the ideal set and setting (anytime soon) to experience it again, but I have to start working on trying to find something better next time than doing it on my own, in my place.

I am very much into spiritual beliefs/practices (but not dogmatic of course) and I take this shamanic experimentation very seriously (not that it is not fun and exciting too--save for the drinking it part!) and is not for simple recreation.

Anyway, I am also into things like going to Apogaea (the local Colorado mini burning man) over the last two years with two particular friends that are into it, however, I would not do this stuff there (too intense for public festivals), and they are not the type of people I would want to do Aya with anyway, nor do they really know much about shamanism, spiritual energies etc. (nor do they care). In fact they are not really close friends, just the only people (out of all my friends) that I can get interested in going to Apo (so far). Its tough to find friends that are seriously into this experimentation so I'm starting to look around on these sites (and of course will try better to get contact info from the right people at Apo next time) at least as a start. I'd ideally like to find people to do this with again by next summer, preferably on a camping trip (but of course that would involve a designated sober person to be a watchdog I think).

As far as the rest of my personality/tastes/interests, yeah I'm into a lot of particular things, but am not stuck in any particular culture or subculture (though generally lean to the liberal sides of course) even though my myspace shows my goth/punk past, but shows all my diverse interests, music and otherwise. I am not into any other types of drugs (save for some grass) other than occasional experimentation with psychedelics. I am 38 and back in School going for a psychology degree and plan on getting into transpersonal psychology at Naropa University in Boulder for an MA. Of course I prefer people my age or older, but I have no problem with age groups (with similar interests) younger than myself, but those more than 13,14 years younger is pushing it for me. So those over 25 at least.

Anyways...anyone who roughly/potentially fits what I'm looking for, or if you can connect me to the right type of people here in Colorado (I am in Colorado Springs, and have a reliable car), or just have good advice to share, then send me a msg. If I'm not mistaken, the legal status in Colorado is pretty ambiguous. I believe that they're one of the few states that does have state laws in place to protect the religious use of entheogens, but as far as I know this has never been clarified though case law (at least in the case of ayahuasca), so the most accurate answer to the question is "who knows?"

Now having said that, I think one needs to be careful and reasonable, unless you want to be the test-case where these things are decided (and in point of fact, unless you're a member of a recognized religious group who uses the medicine--the UdV or Santo Daime, for example--you are probably unlikely to prevail in court).

Colorado actually seems to have a pretty active ayahuasca community, but of necessity people tend to be quiet and discrete.

No one is probably going to "hook you up," but if you're interested in speaking with people who share your interests (including those who may live close to you) the forums at forums.ayahuasca.com are pretty active, and several people are from that part of the country. But don't start off with "Hey, who in Colorado wants to get together and drink yage?" People with any real experience are unlikely to respond to such a post if they don't know you.

Legal is different to lawful, as the senior members here should know.  That said theres alot of paranoia on the forum that the feds are about to kick the door in of those discussing such things.

If you ever want your freedom people you're going to have to start fighting for it.

Don't know if their is a santo daime church in colorado or not.  the ayahuasca.org site might lead to a few connects.

It's just that whole quasi-jesus angle  with them that bugs me, (not that I have anything personally against the Jay man)  and the highly structured ritual that doesn't appeal and lack of constructive admixtures, but if you can look beyond that, even it's a good organization.

boosch: As a "senior member" who is questioning the nature of the initial post, I'm guessing I must be one of them worried the "feds" are going to bust down me door due to the discussion of such matters. However, that fear you mention above isn't the point nor reason for me concern. At least not directly. On the other hand, I don't care to be a senior member of any forum that insists on drawing the attention of the gubmit in question with immature requests, boasts and offers that draw that unwanted attention.

As far as taking back our "freedom" we did that when we kicked your limey asses off of the continent. (Oh yeah, Canada...)

And for the record, the brits have never really been allies of the U$, imo. While we may speak the same language and our people might mix relatively well in social situations, the british monarchy has never been a true friend nor ally to our country, imo. Sure, maybe when it suited the royals' needs as in both WWI and WWII, but when we fought the civil war on U$ soil the brits backed the south. Now, there has been quite a bit of water under the bridge since our civil war, I highly doubt the Royals' central aims have changed much in that time. So when a brit comes around talking about taking back "our" freedom, excuse me if I don't respond well to that request demand nor desire. hehe

Thanks Bushpig, I was expecting yet another bashing with the new posts. Thanks for having the bravery to stick up for this "newbie". Though since I made such a bad first impression to everyone else here, to everyone's pleasure, I'll be looking on other sites when I have time to work on this stuff, maybe looking in on here just for occasional info.

Sorry to everyone else for putting out my feelers and giving it a shot. I know people don't "know me", but was hoping for them to get to know me over time (and eventually in person in the physical world) if in my state. However, in retrospect, I cut to the chase too fast. It was risky to give out my myspace, but that is still not giving out my real name and address, just the city/state, nor did I ask anyone to give their real name or personal info on here. If the Feds really wanted to trace my identity I'm sure they could, and they could with anyone on here as well, there are plenty of stories on here of people's entheogen experiences.  I'm betting that there is not enough DEA manpower to try and bust everyone on the suspicion of possession of the herbs. They mostly want dealers (of hard stuff). Also, as was made clear, I am not looking to "hook-up" to the herbs. I already have the them ordered from an online botanical company (and well hidden in another location just to be safe). Plus the plants themselves (uncombined) are not illegal.  

So this was just a try, though on the next site will be more cautious of not offending people. I assume most others on here have friends to engage in these practices with, well you're lucky. Sorry for trying to better my circumstances. I'll eventually find the right people, though it may take a while, this seemed like a helpful angle, but yes I was too hasty.
 
Also thanks to Avery for the suggestions (and non-negative response). Yeah with the Santo Daime, I'm also not enough into Jesus (not against him either) to join that, or any organized religion. I am open to affiliating with any spiritual group that is not dogmatic (and not saying they are), but I'm not going to get into any religious group just to do Aya with others that have more Aya experience (and can do it legally). But thanks for the suggestion just the same.
 
Anyway thanks again Bushpig, but I am out of here. Not going to debate (nor listen to the complaints of) the mistakes of my first post again and again, nor how "immature" I am for discussing experiments with Ayahuasca on a site that discusses the experiments with Ayahuasca, waste of time.

I think "the Feds" pretty much ignore these forums. I think they have their hands full with other things.

That being said, it would be pretty unwise to get on a public forum and say, in essence, "I'm looking for people to consume illegal drugs with," and it would be a little unwise to respond.

The feds may ignore places like this, but the occasional piss-ant District Attorney who wants to make a name for himself will occasionally go on Internet crusade to rid the world of some cyber-evil. Usually the bogeyman is "pornography," but I could see one taking up the cause of "Internet drugs."

Doesn't fighting for a "right" presuppose that the person you're fighting with has the "right" to take it away?

I don't personally concede that the government has the right to tell me what I can and cannot consume. But I also believe that if we get in a fight over it we'll be playing by their rules and I will therefore loose, by definition. So I choose a path of discretion.

That said, if we want to see an improvement in the way these things are treated we need to regain our sovereignty and actually behave in a free way.  Start thinking lawful not legal.

Considering it some more, I am not saying it is wise to openly talk about for example, the discussion of extractions of something deemed 'illegal' as there are forces out there that will try and punish  this act.  However the act of assisting a new member hook up with likeminded folks is of only a benefit to us all, meeting, networking and helping each other.  

We used to have an awesome forum here, in recent years its been quieter, and when a new member arrives the first thing he gets is LW telling him to piss off.  Get in LW you crazy Diamond!!!!

Perhaps you're right, but I have a hard time being at all optimistic about realignment or readjustment of the rules, at least in the foreseeable future.

About the only thing one can find to be positive about in this regard is the move towards the legalization of MJ in the US, but even this seems to be something of happy happenstance, and not some sudden outbreak of sanity. They seem to be doing the right things, but for the wrong reasons.

Over here in England there is a big movement and many are researching and starting to understand more about the law, statutes, commerce, sovereignty and how to find remedy within it all.

If somebody was telling me what I am telling you now I would not quite grasp the importance or use of it all, however I must say since I have found this stuff I really have realised there are tools we can use.  Previous to this there was lots of people moaning about 'the conspiracy' etc....now I can say by experience, there is remedy if you do the homework.  Goodthings are happening
