Since this slice of cyberspace has a large number of members from the U.S.' I'm curious;  Does anyone hold a medical MJ card or sanction from any of the participating states???  If so, please fill us in on the some of the details...  Senor has been considering moving to such a state...  After all, a chaps' health is his most valuable asset.........

Hey senor...

Hawaii's pretty cool for medcan. CA is too. As you know already.

In HI, you can register as a meduser, and even register your grow site. No one has ever come to check my site. Choppers have looked during green harvest activities, but the Big Island county council just refused/cancelled all funding, and DEA is on its own for further chopper activities, and so far we haven't seen any.

You do have to reregister every year at present, and pay a fee. You get a card. We can have 7 plants, and this is under review, as is air transport , amounts allowed for personal use, etc. The likelihood is that further reforms are inevitable. The program has been working well, with few abuses. Total numbers of registered medusers is actually pretty low, partly no doubt because the heat is off the small user in HI.

The governor is a republican, and resists efforts at reform due to the "against federal law" gambit.

But the population and legislature is willing to reform and make the laws ever more lenient for medusers. For all users, treatment is preferred over jail, and jail sentences are light for possession of small amounts. Police have been instructed to prioritize meth arrests, not pot.

You can grow four crops a year outside with a little help from veg lights. Plants flower even in full summer, w/o lights. Quality is great. Lotsa smokers here.

HI also is senior friendly, and has good medicaid/medquest programs with good quality professionals and facilities.

Oh, and the weather is great! Come on out...

How is the cost of living in Hawaii? I heard it was a little high. I'm glad they have made some progress. I had high hopes for Barack but he flopped on that issue and is against it. He probably won't be as bad as shrub, or Mc.

Hey Stoney...

sure, yeah, the cost of living here is higher. Especially gas, which is around $4.50 now. Food costs are going up fast, cuz of the oil price.

On the plus side, there are ways to cut housing costs, most  smart low income people do what we have done several times-buy a raw lot on low-down agreement of sale, build a small house with cash on hand and sweat, and end up with a low monthly, ending in ten years with NO monthly.

If you have a mortgage or rent, it can be brutal. But the Big Island has more affordable lots than the other islands, to work the above plan. To further benefit, folks garden food crops, a year-round game that saves big over time, and yields healthy fresh food. We love tropicals like taro, bananas, papayas, citrus, sweet potatoes, breadfruit, etc. And also greens, peppers and tomatoes, squash, many plants grow well here. Good place for a magical garden.

A used car kept running well, rainwater catchment, propane water heating/cooking, careful electricity use, solar assist---costs can be kept down. Farmers' markets offer fruits/veg at a discount.  Senior discounts at the local health food store provides raw nuts and seeds. As a retiree farmer, I do fun stuff that is free of charge or cheap, like swimming, cycling, surfing, hiking, yoga, goofing off and resting, books and internet based media. I also farm my land for a small income that actually covers my expenses.

So Hawaii is a good place to retire cheap and healthy. Of course, the better stuff costs plenty, so if that is your lifestyle, bring millions! Lawlz...

Right on, den.

I been to braddah den'ss little corner of paradise on da beeg eyelan. And I sure hope to get back there soon.

Btw, pa: I just found out an old friend of mine named Dave is the caretaker at Ahu Lani Sanctuary north of Hilo. One more reason to get back that way.

sal: Denver is currently a great place to be kicking it if personal freedom is your bag. Med mj is on the rise and the Denver cops pretty much leave the people and their private stashes alone.

California is prolly a step or two ahead of Denver in many cities/counties and Oregon is another safe haven, imo.

We have relatives growing med mj in Oregon and friends doing the same in Denver as well as Humbolt county CA.

Speaking of entheogenic law..... McLame's choice for VP, Sarah Palin of Alaska claims she not only puffed when da ganja was legal in that state but she also inhaled.

Hey LW I hope you make it back to Da Rock soon too!

Good point, LW! Alaska, now there's a good place to grow weed. (Edit) I was wrong, apparently AK HAS medmj, so that's very cool. Still, I can't see anyone bothering to bust a toker in Alaska. I lived there a couple years during the pipeline project in the 70's, and the heat was already off there. Unlike Hawaii, you can get there cheaper, and arrive without much capital, and still find accoms and shape a cool lifestyle in Alaska. You can find cheap cabins to rent (or build one!), grow in the summer, hunt and fish, work part time (or pan gold!). Watch out for the bugs tho!

Oregon is much cheaper than beautiful CA, which is as expensive in most ways as Hawaii imo. Denver sounds like a cool urban choice.

If I wanted to live USA mainland, I would pick Oregon.

Right on.

Denver is urban, but backed up to mountains in the west. The front range is minutes away.
