Hi all, I'm new here, I registered to ask about herbal smoking blends.  The most popular at my usual source (shamansgarden.com) is called "Chill," there is a partial list of ingredients at the manufacturers website.  I did some research on the herbs contained in the blend, and found they had many agreeable effects.  One of the main ingredients, however, is woodruff, which has a pleasing scent but according to wikipedia can cause central paralysis and cessation of breathing in high doses.  In order to get any of the beneficial effects of the other herbs, one would likely have to smoke enough of the blend to get the toxic levels of woodruff as well.  Does anyone have knowledge/experience with this blend, this herb, or any similar to it?

Also, can anyone recommend any herbal smoking blends?  I know smoking is bad for you, but there's a certain level of convenience to it, and the beneficial qualities of some herbs are still active through combustion.  I'm not looking for blends to get high, or even commercial blends.  If you have a favorite combination of herbs for smoking that are pleasing and provide any sort of cognitive or physical benefits, that is what I'm looking for.

Hi RSW, welcome to SPF!

Are you looking for a smoking blend that is a 'medium' for another herb?  Smoking can have bad effect so n health but half of this is due to the chemicals added to conventional cigarettes and rolling tobacco.  I am actually not too up on herbal blEnds but have recently got a few items into stock in my store ( not a plug! ) such as wild dagga and skullcap, both of which can and have been used in blends.  I'm guessing there are many many many, and it would be a case of careful experimentation looking for desired results and synergy beteen differing herbs.

That really is the way to go... find what you like by trying individual plants first. Then it will be easy to choose what plants/effects suit you personally and then, if you choose, you might make a blend of your own.

I really wouldn't purchase any blend as I like to know what effect came from what individual plant.

Good luck!
and Welcome to Spiritplants :-)

agreed, this is the fun part the experimentation! even a better quest id to get seeds for herbs and grow them yourself, which makes for minimal cost and maximal pleasure, if your inclined to have a green thumb thats is..

personally, i have enjoyed blending catnip and anise-hyssop (is a seperate plant from either anise or hyssop). for me, the catnip quiets the mind and the anise-hyssop quiets the body. skull cap can make a nice addition also. californian poppy leaf can also have a mildly sedating effect, but personally, i prefer it as a tea.

speaking of tea, if you have the biomass, try a tea blend as well as the smoking blend, mitght just stumble on a new favourite night cap.
