Pioneering organist Jimmy Smith passed away at 79 yesterday. He was one of the towering all time immortal greats of jazz and all music. I remeber hearing his reverb drenched hammond B-3 as a kid and just loving it.

BTW, a great introduction to Jimmy Smith would be the CD Organ Grinder Swing.
a group of us, on peyote, had little to share with a group on marijuana

the marijuana smokers were discussing questions of the utmost profundity and we were sticking our fingers in our navels & giggling

------------   Yeah, the immortal B-3....  The sound is great eh! !  Matter 'o fact, it's the organ sound I most instantly recognize and am immediately drawn to...Sets the neural pathways dancing    ----------  senorsal

It always puts me in a state of shock to hear that someone whose vibes and emanations/expressions have grooved my heart so has passed on.  We were blessed to have him with us.  I'm jamming some Wes Montgomery with Jimmy Smith in honor
"Got My Mojo Workin"
