a big good feeling! nice update, indigo-lotus.

There's one more thing - the thing that really helped me unblock. That's doing morning pages. (if you've heard of Julia Cameron's 'The Artist's Way'). It's one of the tools she recommends and everyone i know who does morning pages has experienced huge outpourings of creativity.

Every morning, you take out a notebook and fill 3 pages with handwriting. Anything. It doesn't have to make sense, be grammatical, undergo spellcheck, but simply go stream of consciousness free from head to hand. You keep your hand moving and fill up the pages.

No one is going to read them. You don't have to re-read them. But something happens. The garbage from the brain empties out and now and then pours out an image or thought that leads to new connections.

Great tool. Every morning. I've filled up more notebooks than i can count. Check out The Artist's Way on the net. It's something that works for a lot of people.

I don't know about your screen, but it's really hard to read purple text on a black background :)

Anonymous, whoops! I forget that I have a better screen than before. On my other comp, I probably wouldn't be able to read purple text either, lol! I shall stick with the light text for your viewing pleasure. :)

Judih, checking out (and bookmarking) the site right now! That is a wonderful idea and it makes sense. Guess I hadn't thought of getting rid of excess mind-garbage.

Btw, husband made an appt. with his uncle to have him come out and see what he can do about the big beast of a machine that is stuck in an apple tree's root system, lol! (how does one manage to get a 39' RV stuck in a ditch?

:tea: Have a good weekend everyone! Heading off to chill with my 2nd sibling (who is like my male clone, lol! he's really cool). I think just getting out in general is good for me, even if I have to come back at night to crash for now.

Am reminded of an old maps issue. Thanks!

Then their are those who to life is art is life

processes and technique and application, merely tools of the trade.

wow, avery l. - it's been ages since i've seen that logo. What a fine issue. thanks.

& gotta thank indigo-lotus for asking her original question and instigating such a fine thread.

Kind of coming to this late but I could add: The creative process seems to entail a certain cycle of ebb and flow. In my case(musician) it is often frustration that sets the stage for the next fertile period. Tension and resolution is the mechanism that music expresses through and music is just a mirror of life.

Sounds like you might be on the first rung of the next level. All life experiences are grist for the artist's mill. In the case of my songwriting, it's the extremes of both pain and joy that need expression.

Glad to meet you and welcome home! This place has been an endless source of support and wisdom for me. Bless the freaks!!
a group of us, on peyote, had little to share with a group on marijuana

the marijuana smokers were discussing questions of the utmost profundity and we were sticking our fingers in our navels & giggling
