Whoever or whatever this person or AI is they have only posted 5 times since joining on October 11, 2005.  They have not one, but two sites in their signature that both lead to crap sites, plus in profile they have a completely different site listed from the two that is to a dating site.  I do not know who this person is, if in fact they are, but their posts so far are without any decent intelligence and the rules of this site is that there is no posting of a website link in your sig until at least 75 posts and one year of being registered no?  I just do not want this site to go to the hogs like other sites.  I just would like this guy informed of the rules here and such.

looks like a bot...you're right, the posts make no sense...damn bots are getting crafty though...anyone object to this bot's posts being deleted?

Yea, delete them.  If it is a real person they can speak up.
...and as if from the inception of time itself I realized I was and had been for sometime, elsewhere, elsewhen or somehow, quite seriously, otherwise...

Glad you guys agree.  I thought the same thing.

I have a real bad problem with such bots/spam on my own forum....any tech heads about to offer advice on stopping them from registering in the first place?

ok all but one of his posts are gone...the exception is one where someone replied to him and the thread would lose its sense...eh...

Hey Cenacle, that was me that replied before realizing he was a bot.  You can go ahead and delete his and my post, as I do not mind.

You could do the thing where new registrants have to enter "random" numbers/letters ala Ticketmaster with purchasing tickets. This would stop the "enter an email address and reply to gain access" bots.

Fine with me deleting bots and their threads.

Why does anone bother creating bots to join boards?  WTF?

Why do people create spyware or viruses?  They are bored and think it is cute to bully others.  Computer nerds going postal u might say. Look at Microshaft, they do wonders with shafting people and creating agony.

Interestingly, the rule for no links was made in relation to the trade forum to control vendors in our area of interest.  Other hotlinks  raise other issues for the team to make a decision on because i have followed links to some non-profit community organisiations from people's sigs which i would want to see remain.
These links of 'oven', 'wheel' and 'hospital' are stictly commercial- (mmmm, Frank Zappa)- so they're out of here.   If an admin hasnt already pm'd this person , it'll be done asap.  Good call dergheist!

Thank you Cassie, I know I am not a moderator, but I agree that those non-profit links should stay in peoples sig's as long as the site that they link to are tasteful and the people of this site have no reasonable objections to the material. (Erotic, Scams, Illegal, etc)
