Hi all!

I have been experimenting a lot with dreaming the last 3 months. Maybe I will write something about it sometime but for the moment I will just write some about the tools I have been using...

Writing
I started up writing about the dreams I remembered. That increased dreaming some.

Calea
After that I tried calea as tea and smoking. No effect on dreaming.

B-vitamines
Some B-vitamines together with magnesium increase dreaming. Google for the one to use. This acctually worked some but I was not that impressed.

Nutmeg
Nutmeg affect dreaming in weird ways. I tried it a couple of times in moderate doses. Lucid dreaming yes... And also dreams that you beliave are real life. Very weird stuff... But no usefull visions.

Cipralex
I also tried the medicin cipralex which are known amoung the SSRI to increase dreaming the most extremly. Very true even for 5 mg I took for 6 weeks. A lot of dreams everynight. Good stuff also.

Obvious a connecting between serotonin and dreaming exists. Time to back...

Calea again
Calea felt as serotonin affecting for me the first time. Time to try it again during the cipralex diet...

And the effect? Together it is dynamit. Feels like nothing but dreaming the whole night. No lucid dreams though, but every other kinds including oracle dreams.

Adding B-vitamines to the mix together with magnesium. Nothing extra... The effect doesnt get any better than calea + cipralex.

Other tips for sacred herbs or mental methods are deeply wanted...

When I began using St. John's Wort as mentoned in my Medicine Lodge posts I began having frequent and vivid dreams. The thing of it is they are very mundane dreams, true to my waking reality pretty much not fraut with symbolism.
a group of us, on peyote, had little to share with a group on marijuana

the marijuana smokers were discussing questions of the utmost profundity and we were sticking our fingers in our navels & giggling

Interesting.  What constitutes a "moderate" dose?  Are we talking on par with a "recreational"  :P  dose?

edit:  Just to throw something out there,  the most vivid, engaging dreams I've expereinced without any chemical help are when I quit smoking cannabis years ago.  For a few weeks after cessation, I quite looked forward to sleep, so epic were my dreams.
What I need is a strong drink and a peer group....

The stuff that gives me dreams are salvia divinorum and piracetam. Both are good for other things as well.

Many people report good success with gel-capped herb -- moreso than the traditional modalities.

I will try that for sure.

Remembering dreams are fun and you learn a lot. Like the last night...

I got two large farms from a king. And I decided to move all horse handling including nutering (is it correct? Removing important parts of male horses) just to one and having all the cows on the other one.

An important message for sure.

You dont nuter horses do you? Just male cows?

Only things I've ever heard of being nueterd (sp) before were small house animals. I think, if the stock's good, you can sell bull semen at auctions.

A "Gelding" in horse terms means a neutered horse, a "Stallion" meaning unadulterated.

"Gelding is often used as a means to modify a horse's behavior.  Vocalization, fractious behavior and sexual interest in mares are frequently the undesirable characteristics noted in the yearling and two-year-old stallion"

Hope this helps in your dream interpretation!

I'd have to say that nicotine definately enhances dreams. When I quit smoking using the patch, I would apply the patch at night before bed. For the first week I woke at least 5 times a night from the most vivid dreams I've ever had. They started to taper off after the first week, but I did look forward to those dreams for the first week. I don't condone the use of nicotine as it is a very habit forming substance, and I still smoke =(

there are also forms of dream enhancement using mental stimulation rather than herbs...lucid dreaming is the result of learning techniques to realize one is dreaming, and control the dream, lead it places, so to speak...

a great work of art, and an excellent intro to lucid dreaming, is the film "waking life"...so much wisdom, instruction, and funky music in that one

Just picked up "Waking Life" from a friend the other day, have to check it out, looks quite good indeed, saw the first scene and was definitely impressed with the story content, the animation, etc.

Also I found a few other sites with info on Dream Manipulation, they are listed below:

I tried Calea but was allergic to it. So I looked for an alternative. Sachahambi (active at aya.com) talks about this amazonian plant, Ilex guayusa. It's available at some vendors:

QuoteYes, I have worked with Wayusa (spelling I prefer) and in fact I am named for this plant in Runashimi, Wayusa Warmi or Wayusa Woman. It has many healthful uses, supposed to promote long life (and you feel like you can live a long time when you drink it every day) and it has also been called "Amazonian viagra." But it is mainly used by the Indians for to promote clarity of dreaming and clarity of dream recall.

Traditionally, they arise 2 1/2 hours before sunrise and drink Wayusa together and discuss their dreams and the messages in them, and plan the day based on the messages in the night's dreams. (That is also the time in which the traditional myths, legends and oral histories are passed on, because the dreams will be in the language of the myths; mythology is a people's collective dream-language so that their dreams present in a more or less common language.) This time of day, they call Wayusa time, and say that Wayusa works best for promoting clear dream recall if you arise at this hour, and they are right. I think that it actually interacts with some brain chemical that the body releases at this time (if your circadian rhythms are not disrupted by artificial light).

It is also drunk before going to sleep to promote clarity of dreaming. (The people there don't talk about "lucid" dreaming, simply clear dreaming.) The interesting thing is that Wayusa (Ilex guayusa) is said to have the highest caffeine content in the world, yet, in weaker brews at least, it doesn't disturb sleep. This is because it seems to be bound somehow in a time-release forms, and also because it seems bound the same way that caffeine is bound (as "mateine") in its close relative Yerba Mate. Like Yerba Mate, it does not make you feel caffeinated, just alert and with a feeling of clarity and well-being.

The Indians also drink Wayusa in the fasting period before an Ayahuasca ceremony, since it promotes clarity of vision in the ceremony, and they drink it during the Ayahuasca ceremony as well. The Indians where I live when in Ecuador don't add it to the brew, though I have heard of that done elsewhere.

Other Indian groups, like the Achuar, have a variety of Wayusa (Wayus in their language) which is emetic, IOW causes vomiting. They drink it in the morning to cleanse their stomachs of the contents from the night before. (Interestingly, the Cherokees used a relative of this plant, known as Black Drink, in ceremonies -- which was also an emetic and reportedly psychoactive.)

Dreaming is something else all together.  The fact that the mind can create images undistinguishable from reality puts me on edge.  It makes me ask questions like "Is any fucking thing REAL WHAT THE FUCK IS HAPPENING RIGHT NOW AHHHH!!!!".

Still if you are going to experiment with dreaming I recommend the following movie which is incredible.

"Waking Life"

You will love it I assure you
