I just heard about this cactus. Of course, some vendors are making claims about this one (some of the best myths come from people trying to sell you something).

Anyone know anything?

This is all I could find that is published in the scientific literature.

Article in American Chemical Society's Journal of Natural Products.

At home I can access only the first page.
At work I can get the whole article.

The article did analyze a Stenocereus species, but its content was uselessly low.

This one is an odd one.
There has been some discussion of it at another forum and it has proved to have a signifigant alkaloid content, but only a single clone of this species has been found to be like this and it is believed it may be a hybrid.

It is rather strange.

So how do you know if what they are selling is the clone in question?

I know of at least 3 people who have ordered it from them. One of them is rather scientific and contacted the vendor and is rather convinced. Another of them verified its alkaloid content via an A/B extraction.

I don't want to sound like an ad though, I don't care much myself I doubt I will ever order a cut of it. I just find in neat from an information point of view.
