I had a solo 5-hr drive this weekend, so I took a load of CDs with me since driving sometimes makes me drowsy and I don't get a lot of listening time for myself anyway.

Neil Young's Re-act-or:  Got mashed potatoes, ain't got no t-bo-o-o-o-one.

Emerson, Lake, & Palmer - Their live double CD opus (was 3 LPs originally).

More dusting...ZZ Top's "Tres Hombres"...finally acquired in CD format.

Waitin' for the Bus
Jesus Just Left Chicago
Beer Drinkers & Hell Raisers
Master of Sparks
Move me on Down the Line
La Grange

At least on more ZZ Top CD will have to be acquired...perhaps Deguello.

BTW - They are on a 24 week tour starting this summer.
36 years with the same line-up.

I caught zz top right after deguello was released. It has to be my fav from back in the daze.

The first time me uncle caught their act, the stage (purposefully) collapsed around the band whilst they kept playing.

The next time, a lights guy dropped a life-like dummy onto the stage from his perch and one of the guys from the band strolled over and gave the manequin a little nudge with the toe of his boot during a screaming passage. hehe

I heard Gillette or some razor manufacturer had offered ZZ Top an absorbent amount of money to shave their beards for a commercial. They declined.

Yep early ZZ was some good shit. My favorites include Cheap Sun Glasses and Heard It On the X.l
a group of us, on peyote, had little to share with a group on marijuana

the marijuana smokers were discussing questions of the utmost profundity and we were sticking our fingers in our navels & giggling

++Tres hombres,an` a few other albums, before ZZ discovered one sound only,an thier beards. Jesus lef` chicago, yes, and A few others also( gas an oil bluejeans- an`one song of course covering addiction. One album cover, mabe that mentioned, had the most texmex bowl of chili on it i ever seen on an album cover( an`mabe the only one)

I remember the N.Y. reactor album, during Neils little alternative go at it. One or two good songs. one thing about Mr. young,he could be as suck-*** hip commercial as 'southern man' or he could put out some really good music such as 'running dry',wished I knew who played violen in that. Iv`e always been a fan of N.Y.`s longer compositions, tho` they can be unequal.
My favorite Young album is of course his first solo effort, after that famous early band i`m trying to think of.

I have always liked the idea of Neil Young more than the actuality of his music. His whole persona seems to be a reaction to the meat grinder of fame, similar to Bob Dylan. It's a refusal to be pinned down by peoples needs and expectations. Insanity is sometimes the only sane reaction to an unsane situation. Makes it hard on his band mates, wives and record companies for sure. Check out Neil's biography "Shakey".

BTW I think you are thinking of Buffalo Springfield.

I remember a tour ZZ did , when i was a kid i went,
the drummers kit was cumming up on a turning pedestal
witch was higher than the whole set it self, and what a great show
i couldnt remember what tour, i must have been like 7. :)

Ive just dusted off my later Rory Gallagher albums,
The song "sinner boy" is a great one, he did with Taste.

Mmmmmmmmmmmm, Just Got Paid Today by ZZ Top.  Got turned onto the band as a teener punker when I listened to the Chicago industrial punk band Rapeman cover the song.  I was blown away to find that ZZ Top's version was just as hard and industrial as the cover ... much like 10,000 Homo DJ's cover of Black Sabbath's Supernaut.

Oh yeah!. one day at work someone lended me their walkman, while I was doing some digging. I Always had a predjudice agin them before, and therefore was totally turned to 360* in all directions w/black planet(sisters of mercy)Wizard( sorcerer?-skinny puppy),Blasphomous rumours, and of course,Supernaut by said band. Amongst so much ...other(!).

At work at least,I was happy, for a while. And holes got dug deeper and quicker..heh.

     It was the 80`s.

Several songs I liked by Rory Gallager, too..earlier period I think.
