I'm actually going to be keeping very few of these specimens. Many have already been sent to their forever homes. But, it is nice growing them from seed like this as it gives you a chance to evaluate the traits from a cross and decide which ones are the keepers. For instance, my Trichocereus scopulicola x T. tersechrckii cross... I've decided to keep a single 10 rib specimen from that cross.

Do you sell them to a store or what do you do with them if I may ask?

I gift many of them out to friends and family. Others I trade or if someone wants to do a simple cash transaction if they make me a reasonable offer I rarely refuse. The simple truth is I simply can't keep them all and I'd rather they go to someone who will actually grow them out.


As for me, I look for the traits I like to keep of course. Right now, I am only keeping those with more 8 ribs from many crosses. Others I am only keeping what I consider the best variegated specimen from.... The traits I like the most.... more than 8 ribs, largest in diameter.... it really amounts to keeping 1-2 specimens at the most from each cross as a general rule for my own personal garden. If two specimens are equal, I generally keep the one with the most colorful spines or rippling in the skin, etc. Something will generally set off the one I intend to keep from the rest even if there are others that are very close to it in comparison.
