Last evening I happened to meet a fellow...  We ended up getting into alot of wide ranging discussions on a slew of topics....  We went down the path of "back in da day/have you ever tried"....  I hapened to mention Salvia..  Guy said he never had heard of it...  (I fill him in)...   Next thing 'ya know, he says, "You ever heard of Ibogaine?"   Wow, I was quite surprised, as I had never actually spoken to any AmeriKKKan, in person, who had actually experienced the stuff...  He said that for all intents, he felt it was basically like Acid from the early 70's, that it kept him 'going' for 15 hours...  He had done it several times in Africa while visiting there a couple years ago..  Said people would come up to you in bars, and toss some in your drink if they liked you..  He further said that people did it as a party drug in Durban, similar to how people casually do Exstacy in the states....I was fascinated to hear this...  I asked him if he had any deep revalations/life changing/addiction solving things happen..  He replied that No, it was just about like ole acid except that he found it easier to maintain without feeling the 'dreaded apprehension' that 'cid can sometimes cause....--------------  I found his take on Ibogane really different from what I have come to believe from my reading....     senorsal------------------

I think that can be traced to various individuals having more or less of a spiritual "expectation" regarding their use of a substance.  If you view the scattering of some bones as important, then you will experience them as important where another person may see it as a mess that you just made and now have to clean up.

I heard some flaky girl with no respect for her body or anybody else once comment to a friend of mine, "Jeez, they're just mushrooms! Let's get some coke!"

Of course, how could they have these expectations? Every one of us who does find spiritual meaning in entheogens is having to "reinvent the wheel" so to speak when it comes to the view of these states, because we're sure as hell not getting any valuable direction from OUR elders, they're scared shitless of any ecstatic experience beyond singing at church.

this is an interesting contrast to the traditional reports, but also re-asuring that it isnt a forced experience, that it has some sway witht he user...

but also the dose question pops to mind, would it be the same dose as taken when seeking a full spiritual experience?

why cant we live like tribes?"

I think spiritual intent counts for little in this case. I'll also bet that dosage has everything to do with it.

Btw, mok: While I dislike white powders, for the most part, I fail to see how a coke heads reaction to being offered shrooms has anything to do with spirituality. Maybe she just likes the jitters. Maybe the jitters are spititual to her.

Most anything in a large enough dose can be spiritual, imo. And at that point, intent has nothing ot do with the subject at hand, imo.

I only meant to express how what one individual sees as a spiritual experience another can see as a rollercoaster, as a way of pushing the point of how intent can flavor one's entheogenic experiences.  This poor girl had taken large quantities of the sacrament with little spiritual "movement", so to speak.   She's in rehab now and doing well, btw.

Just a little off-topic nit -- and you know I love you, senor, but why:

Quote from: "senorsalvia"You ever heard of Ibogaine?"   Wow, I was quite surprised, as I had never actually spoken to any AmeriKKKan, in person, who had actually experienced the stuff...

do you insult this guy by likening him to the KKK, when it doesn't sound like the insult is warrented. I undersand the "problem you have with America," but why do you have to hold it against everyone you meet in the US, even total strangers.

I uderstand that you don't intend to be insulting, but words have power, ya' know.

Hugs and Kisses...

Ha :D --  Don't worry Amom, senor is not hurt nor angry..  I am somewhat perplexed though..  Ya see, I am an American citizen residing in America....  It is true that I generally spell my country using KKKan, as to demonstrate my displeasure with certain policies of my country...  I assure you it has no bearing on any person whether they be U.S. born or from somewhere else.  (please excuse senor now, while he goes and sits in the corner, quietly reciting the Pledge Of Allegiance, and reading selected excerpts by the late senator Joe McCarthy    )---senorsal
