Decent, but not quite nice. This one is nice. What you see here are two very small week old Trichocereus seedlings grafted to each other and then grafted to a stock plant in this case Pereskiopsis. So, you have effectively a double-triple graft as each seedling must be grafted to each other and at least one side of the Pereskiopsis to grow.

Just an update on the cotyledon graft. This is the way I like to graft em. Photo taken today.

Thanks for the wow, and while I do get excited over silly stuff like this... I have not presented anything I could not teach an elementary school child to replicate with a few minutes of teaching hands on. I can say this with a degree of confidence as I've taught all my children to do similar grafts with everything from cacti to trees. The mystery one feels when looking at grafts is kind of like the mystery one feels when seeing a magic trick one does not understand. Once the trick is revealed though the mystery is gone. Still, I love watching seedlings progress along their altered course via the power of grafting. I will never grow tired of that as the mystery within the seedling does unfold so much faster with the simple act of grafting.

Updates!!! I know you guys and gals are watching. How could you not? Don't be scarred. Ask questions or just drop a comment to let me know you are tuning in.

Hi all,

Your "three headed"grafting is really cool .. how long can you keep it this way before it break from the Pereskiopsis because of their own weight ??
"The water is so yellow , I\'m your vitamin .."

Wakinyan

How long does a tree limb stay in place before it breaks of its own weight?
Stay tuned. I'm going to keep you updated. My goal is to try to keep updating these grafts so you can get a feel for how fast grafts grow in a less than ideal situation.

Here is a little update for this wee seedling. (SS02 x SS01) x Red Grandi.... I honestly can't wait for these bad boys to flower.

i'm watching. haven't seen such beautiful evolving photos on this site in ages! thanks so much, W!

Thanks Judith. I like to spice things up. As it is, I have too much spice and not enough grafting supplies, but that is always the case with me when it comes to grafting. When I see a lemon or a lime variegate I have to decide... do I make areole grafts and gift these things out to as many people as I can? Or do I save my grafting supplies to save these other freaks in my collection? The choice is usually pretty clear. Save as many freaks as you can and worry about making more areole grafts later for gift giving.

Enough chatter though, here is a before and after picture I realized I did not post the really early before... so here she goes. Along with a photo taken today of course on the right.
