On this week's show:

* Featured New Rock Album: Honeysuckle, *Honeysuckle* (2016) . . . Came across mention of this self-described "progressive folk" Boston band in a newspaper found on the subway one morning . . . they are a trio of top-notch players & singers, & their debut LP is fantastic, pretty, haunting, powerful . . . acoustic as they are, they rock quite nicely . . .

* Featured Classic Rock Album: Steve Earle and The Del McCoury Band, *The Mountain* (1999) . . . Steve Earle has been a rowdy folk-country-rocker since the 1980s . . . The Del McCoury Band has been a great bluegrass outfit since the 1960s . . . in 1999 they got together to record this amazing album that blends their talents & touches seamlessly . . . a delightful 14 songs written by Earle, rocking bluegrass classics start to finish . . .

* Storybook Time*: Continuing Chapter 8 of *The Unconsoled* by Kasuo Ishiguro . . .

* Readings from *Labyrinthine* fixtion & *Many Musics* poems & *Bags End News* . . . & this week's featured artists are The Beach Boys, as we continue a weeks-long summertime jaunt through their many years of music-making . . . laid up with a healing foot this week . . . glad the week ends on the high notes of this show . . .

On this week's show:

* Featured New Rock Album: Radiohead, *A Moon Shaped Pool* (2016) . . . This album does not often rock hard, but it does have a beautiful heaviness to it . . . flows like of one piece, yet is not, some of its songs sourcing years back . . . does not threaten, yet its musical comforts feel like mortal blankets warming against an infinitely cold night . . . recent Radiohead albums I've loved as much but liked a little less . . . this record discontinues that trend . . .

* Featured Classic Rock Album: Rolling Stones, *Aftermath* (1966) . . . Considered the Stones' first major album, with great songs like "Lady Jane," "Under My Thumb" &, on the US version of the LP, "Paint It Black" . . . also closes with an 11-minute blues workout, called "Going Home" . . . the dirty beautiful music of the Stones' classic period is in full force here . . . rockin' ya bad . . .

* Storybook Time*: Continuing Chapter 8 of *The Unconsoled* by Kasuo Ishiguro . . .

* Readings from *Labyrinthine* fixtion & *Many Musics* poems & *Bags End News* . . . & this week's featured artists are The Beach Boys, as we continue a weeks-long summertime jaunt through their many years of music-making . . . feeling like over 100F recent days, what does that mean? . . . I don't know, but hope for a snowy winter to come, thinking of this even now . . .

On this week's show:

* Featured New Rock Album: Steve Gunn, *Eyes on the Lines* (2016) . . . Gunn is an old fashioned rocker, lead guitar master, writing songs that make one think of him like Clapton or Neil Young . . . his new album continues his evolution as a musician, composer, bandleader, & is a sweet hazy pleasure . . .

* Featured Classic Rock Album: Golden Smog, *Down by the Old Mainstream* (1995) . . . Get musicians from The Jayhawks, Wilco, Soul Asylum, & their like into a studio, & come out with a debut album something like an Americana Wilburys . . . pretty, shambling, catchy as hell . . . treat for every set of ears . . .

* Storybook Time*: Chapter 9 of *The Unconsoled* by Kasuo Ishiguro . . .

* Readings from *Labyrinthine* fixtion & *Many Musics* poems & *Bags End News* . . . & this week's featured artist are The Beach Boys, as we continue a weeks-long summertime jaunt through their many years of music-making . . . this week I have a cast on my left foot, getting an injury healed up over the next few weeks . . . limping up seen & unseeable hills . . .

On this week's show:

* Featured New Rock Album: Meursault, *Something for the Weakened* (2012) . . . Scottish folk-tronica band led by the big--voiced Neil Pennycook . . . because Scottish, & a kind of passionate dark rock in their music, I think of them alongside of Frightened Rabbit . . . but a good listen to this, possibly their final album, reveals a band moving far & wide by its own musical muses . . .

* Featured Classic Rock Album: Throwing Muses, *Hunkpapa* (1989) . . . This indie rock band rocked my world some years ago &,  listening to this album now, nothing is lost . . . Kristen Hersh is a brilliant banshee of a lead singer, tempered just a bit by her sweet-voiced mate Tanya Donnelly . . . fierce music, of a peculiar kind that can only perhaps be compared to the equal wonders of Sleater-Kinney . . .

* Storybook Time*: Chapter 9 of *The Unconsoled* by Kasuo Ishiguro . . .

* Readings from *Labyrinthine* fixtion & *Many Musics* poems & *Bags End News* . . . & this week's featured artist are The Beach Boys, as we continue a weeks-long summertime jaunt through their many years of music-making . . . it's slowly getting cooler, & my foot's cast coming off in a few days . . . & my pen just itches to write a lot & read it eventually on this show's airwaves . . .
