* Featured New Rock Album: The Jayhawks, Paging Mr. Proust (2016) . . . This Minnesota band has long been a favorite of mine, & I'm happy to say their new album is them in all their hippie-style Americana glories . . . the pretty songs, the rockers, even something just really weird & fun thrown in to show they aren't slowing down or looking back . . . a real delight . . .

* Featured Classic Rock Album: R.E.M., *Reveal* (2001) . . . This show has featured most of R.E.M.'s 15 studio LPs, but not this one . . . when drummer Bill Berry left the band in the late '90s, I felt like my version of The Beatles was at an end . . . R.E.M. had been my favorite current band for over a decade at that point . . . I so resented (unfairly) the whole thing, Berry leaving, the others carrying on, that I never truly gave the 5 LPs they released as a trio a real chance . . . now I have, including this one & I recall how much I liked this album when it came out, how it sounded like MY R.E.M., despite everything . . . yet till recently, never featured it . . . it's a great album, they were a great band, even sometimes when they were a trio . . . finally doing right by all of their work . . .

* Storybook Time*: Continuing Chapter 6 of *The Unconsoled* by Kasuo Ishiguro . . .

* Readings from *Labyrinthine* fixtion & *Many Musics* poems & *Bags End News* . . . & this week's featured artists are more of those featured on "American Top 40 with Casey Kasem" back on May 29, 1982 . . . nice to have beloved KD back from her travels, good juju for DJ'ing a good show!

* Featured New Rock Album: Mudcrutch, Mudcrutch 2 (2016) . . . Mudcrutch was Tom Petty's band before he & his mates formed the Heartbreakers . . . the two bands share several of the same members . . . Petty resurrected the Mudcrutch name a few years ago, & invited some of his old mates & some Heartbreakers to join together . . . the sound is very often great Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers & their friends music . . . but some songs sound a little different . . . this album is both a labor of love among old friends, & something else . . . & really really good too . . .

* Featured Classic Rock Album: The Partridge Family., *Up to Date* (1971) . . . Like The Monkees before them, The Partridge Family was both a TV show & a rock group . . . with this group, only two of the TV Partridges actually played & sang on the albums . . . backed up by crack studio musicians . . . that all said, this album is a fantastic pop-rock treasure . . . I think a group conceived in 1971, backed by the money to get really good musicians & songwriters involved, could not help but produce songs like these . . . it's a real treat from first to last tune . . .

* Storybook Time*: Chapter 7 of *The Unconsoled* by Kasuo Ishiguro . . .

* Readings from *Labyrinthine* fixtion & *Many Musics* poems & *Bags End News* . . . & this week's featured artists are a final few of those featured on "American Top 40 with Casey Kasem" back on May 29, 1982 . . . this show the last before a break for me to ready for the Firefly Festival in Vermont in a few weeks . . . back to the Burning Man world, here I finally go . . .
