On this week's show:

* Featured New Rock Album: Cage The Elephant, "Tell Me I'm Pretty" (2015) . . . Fourth album from these trippy indie rockers from Bowling Green, Kentucky, who often rock like it's about December 1966, though not always . . . fun, sometimes thoughtful, groovy & fine . . .

* Featured Classic Rock Album: Richard Thompson, "Mock Tudor" (1999) . . . This legendary folk-rocker has put out countless great albums over the course of many years, & I find myself dipping into his deep catalogue now & again, always to find an unheard-by-me treasure . . . this album is a pretty hard rocker at times, its loose theme about suburban living & alienation . . . Thompson can be pissed, can be tender, can be weird . . . & his great music backs his moods & mullings . . .

* Storybook Time*: Continuing Chapter 1 of *The Unconsoled* by Kasuo Ishiguro . . .

* Readings from *Labyrinthine* fixtion & *Many Musics* poems & *Bags End News* . . . & this week's featured artists are some of those featured on "American Top 40 with Casey Kasem" back on March 1, 1980 . . . spring is not yet quite in the air here, ice often sheets the ground, but it's a-comin' soon, the Green getting ready to roll out . . .

On this week's show:

* Featured New Rock Album: Umphrey's McGee, *The London Session: A Day At Abbey Road Studios* (2015) . . . I remember around 2000 happening upon this Indiana jam band playing on a makeshift stage in the parking of a midwest US Phish show . . . last year they recorded a whole album in one day at the Beatles' old workplace . . . quite a journey, & they are quite good . . . rock a little heavier & harder than most jam bands, but with a deep sense of the tune & the groove . . . their new LP is worth many spins . . .

* Featured Classic Rock Album: Felt, *Felt* (1971) . . . Sole release by this youthful Alabama band has the jazzy feel of a proto-Steely Dan, while still be quite rooted in late '60s rock sounds . . . nice bluesy touches to it as well, with some sweet harmonies to fill in the nicest places . . .

* Storybook Time*: Continuing Chapter 2 of *The Unconsoled* by Kasuo Ishiguro . . .

* Readings from *Labyrinthine* fixtion & *Many Musics* poems & *Bags End News* . . . & this week's featured artists are one more dose of those featured on "American Top 40 with Casey Kasem" back on March 1, 1980 . . . now snow's coming, followed by days in the 70s . . . tis a freakish country that brings out some of the best & the worst & the weirdest in men & in weather . . .

On this week's show:

* Featured New Rock Album: James, *Girl at the End of the World* (2016) . . . Great UK band featured several times on this show, & their new album is another winner  . . . James' sound seems ever on an upward cascade of melody, always about to reveal everything music could possibly reveal . . . exciting, pretty, rhythmic, deep feeling music . . .

* Featured Classic Rock Album: T. Rex, *My People Were Fair and Had Sky in Their Hair . . . But Now They're Content to Wear Stars* (1968) . . . Completely captivating & totally original debut album from Marc Bolan & his partner Steve Peregrin Took . . . the two create a sort of hippie nether land of music & lyrics that sweets the ear more with each listen . . . a wonderful lysergic platter of tunes . . .

* Storybook Time*: Continuing Chapter 3 of *The Unconsoled* by Kasuo Ishiguro . . .

* Readings from *Labyrinthine* fixtion & *Many Musics* poems & *Bags End News* . . . & this week's featured artists are Iron & Wine and Calexico, & their 2005 EP collaboration, *In the Reins* . . . the green is budding everywhere in New England, & elsewhere, embodying hope & perseverance for those paying good heed . . .
