On this week's show:

* New Rock Album: Atoms for Peace, *Amok* (2013) . . . This album is Radiohead's Thom Yorke plus Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, & a few others, but it is a Radiohead-sound vision with Flea thumping low . . . some say the atmosphere is what is important here, I'm not sure . . . maybe it's more than Yorke is working out some Radiohead ideas for albums to come. . .

* Classic Rock Album: Yo La Tengo, *Painful* (1993) . . . I knew little of this New Jersey band with the funky name until recently, but have since found them to be a rocking delight . . . noise & melodies mixed on this album gives them, to my ears a Velvet Underground feel . . . beautiful feedback time occurs often . . .

*Storybook Time*: Continuing Chapter 11 of *The Acid Diaries: A Psychonaut's Guide to the History & Use of LSD* by Christopher Gray. . .

* Readings from *Labyrinthine* fixtion & *Many Musics* poems . . . & the week's featured artist is Forever Amber & songs from their delicious 1969 sole release, *The Love Cycle* . . . it's leaving winter time soon & there's more leaving than that going on . . . good kind though . . .

On this week's show:

* New Rock Album: Frightened Radio, *Pedestrian Verse* (2013) . . . Ev softery few years, these Scottish boys put out a new album of big & soft anthems, aggressive, sensitive, sometimes pretty tuneful, sometimes they pound away . . . they give their news of matters close to their hearts, things they see & feel . . . a heavy delight . . .

* Classic Rock Album: The Jayhawks, *Hollywood Town Hall* (1992) . . . Reaching back to the early of these great Minnesota alt-rockers . . . easy to lose happily in the harmonies, the lyrics, the music, or a far-spreading cocktail of all three . . . this is a band to discover or re-discover for the uplift their music will bring . . .

*Storybook Time*: Continuing Chapter 11 of *The Acid Diaries: A Psychonaut's Guide to the History & Use of LSD* by Christopher Gray. . .

* Readings from *Labyrinthine* fixtion & *Many Musics* poems . . . & the week's featured artist is Bruce Damer, a good friend of mine, and the "Conscious Universe" rap he did at Burning Man 2003 . . . ah, those old days in the desert . . .

On this week's show:

* New Rock Album: Godspeed You! Black Emperor, *'Allelujah! Don't Bend! Ascend (2012) . . . This album marks the first time I have been happily swallowed whole by a "post-rock" band . . . this Montreal band creates an epic 4-song record that pounds & strokes, sweeps widely over the sonic landscapes . . . quite an amazing work . . .

* Classic Rock Album: XTC, *Mummer* (1983) . . . This album came just after Andy Partridge had a breakdown, & the band had retired from tour . . . it marked their turn from postpunkers to classic rockers, though their music is so their own that the labels are only so helpful . . . Partridge is a master lyricist & his band in great form . . . this mostly-acoustic confection ends with "Funk Pop a Roll," one of the loudest, angriest, best songs XTC ever released . . . you boys are still missed . . .

*Storybook Time*: Chapter 12 of *The Acid Diaries: A Psychonaut's Guide to the History & Use of LSD* by Christopher Gray. . .

* Readings from *Labyrinthine* fixtion & *Many Musics* poems . . . & the week's featured artist is Stevie Wonder, & a selection of tunes from his great 1972 album, *Talking Book* . . . oh so close to spring & a release to the green, the world ever & ever & ever moving along . . .

On this week's show:

* New Rock Album: Impossible Shapes, *Impossible Shapes* (2008) . . . This Indiana psychedelic rock band called it quits in 2009, just after released their fine, & final, & eponymous, album . . . their songs are strange, & fun, rock out sweetly, & let it roll with the best of them . . .

* Classic Rock Album: Mercury Rev, *Deserter's Songs* (1998) . . . This album is delightful, otherworldly, a dream suite of tunes that passes as though in a mere breath . . . renewing my listening to this album after many years, I had to spin it through three times, just to be sure . . . yes, its lovely mysteries hold . . .

*Storybook Time*: Continuing Chapter 12 of *The Acid Diaries: A Psychonaut's Guide to the History & Use of LSD* by Christopher Gray. . .

* Readings from *Labyrinthine* fixtion & *Many Musics* poems . . . & the week's featured artist is Susan Christie, & wonderful trippy nuggers from her sole album, 1970's *Paint a Lady* . . . yes, spring has come, yes, snow remains on the ground, yes, there is burgeoning green everywhere!
