Anyone know anything about this trichocereus strain?

I really want to know more about this as well. (I am such a consumerwhore for things with enticing names.)

Any update  on finding anything about the EL Potente.

Been running up against walls on this, no one knows anything. I did root another cutting, it's got to be the slowest growing tricho I have seen. maybe in 5 years there will be enough to bioassay. If there is enough interest, I will try to root a few more cuts next spring and offer em for trade or sale.

Some strains are more potent than others, the only way to tell is to test them (eat it) and then you can continue growing that clone if it's a good one.

Well yeah, that's what I have done for the last 20 years. I found some good strains that way. Ever hear of T brdigessi v Lumberjack? and also the WOH strain as well. Problem with El Potente is it grows so slow, in over 5 years its grown less than a foot.

A quick field test, not real reliable but sometimes useful is just licking the end of a fresh cutting. Alkaloids are bitter is the theory.

Stonehenge

If it grows that slowly it might as well be a lopho. Put them on a graft and they will grow fairly fast.

JRL, never heard of that one.  Got any photos?  The growth makes it sound a lot like my suspected T. huanucoensis.  This thing grows a couple inches a year max (in a active 5 to 6 month growing period).  Stonehenge make a good point about grafting it.

Regarding the Lumberjack, once I got a verified one it turned out to be identical with two other plants in my collection, both which predated my Lumberjack.  Most definitely an awesome plant to say the least...I'm convinced it is a T. bridgesii T. peruvianus cross of some sort, but that is just speculation.

Here's my Lumberjack...

I will try to get a picture up.  And I think you are right about the Lumberjack.
