AJ please post pictures of the leaves also post the picture i took when you were climbing the tree, we had a hard time with AJ to collect the seeds but it was fun, we saw a huge snake, those virola seeds are real fresh 100 % viable, post photos of the leaves too.

yes, i have seen some of my friends cooking the virola leaves in aya, but also the seeds are used mixed with shell ashes for snuff.
dried the seeds but only the nuts, grind it to a a very fine powder do the same with the shells mix both powders then use it as a snuff, i've seen it but personaly i haven't tried.
