Susun Weed is marvelous -

I thought you might enjoy reading this, in light of our discussion of entrainment. (Note, this is from a series called The Seven Rivers of Healing, each 'river' being a channel or approach to dealing with dis-ease).

Vibrational Healing

Restoring energetic connections is often done through sympathetic resonance and entrainment. In sympathetic resonance a quiet object naturally begins to resonate (vibrate) in sympathy with a vibrating object. The vibration that is the most complex/healthy/whole entrains the others, and they become more complex/healthy/whole.

Resonance and entrainment occur between people, in a flock of birds and schools of fish, within muscle fibers, among the electrical messages in our brains, and in a myriad of other ways.

The power of positive thinking is vibrational medicine, as is prayer, affirmations, visualizations, and most types of meditation (focus on an image, a sound, the breath).

Vibrational medicine starts from the known fact that matter is made up of atoms which are constantly vibrating. Given this, we ought to be able to change our physical as well as mental and emotional health by entering the Third River and changing the vibrations of our atoms. Easier said than done. Or perhaps, easier said to be done than proved done.

The Third River is often crowded with charlatans and there are few scientific studies of the effectiveness of most energy medicines. (Acupuncture, although it is said to affect the invisible energies of the body, is not part of the Third River; since the intention of acupuncture is to stimulate and sedate the energies, it is in the Fifth River.)

Shall we take a homeopathic remedy imbued with the vibration of the plant? Shall we call upon a "hands" healer whose touch brings the vibration of wholeness/health/holiness? Shall we meditate? Pray? Use a mantra? All of these are part of the Third River of Healing.

Two vibrational healing methods that have gained wide acceptance were created by medical doctors who wanted safer remedies than drugs: Dr. Bach's flower essences, and Samuel Hahnemann's homeopathic remedies. Though widely used, these remedies and their underlying philosophies are still questioned and challenged. Nonetheless, they have spawned a bevy of similar vibrational healing substances including biochemic tissue salts, gemstone elixirs, crystal essences, and innumerable flower remedies never dreamed of by Dr. Bach.

The earth itself is a vibrational healing tool. Our ancient ancestors all over the world observed the flows of energy through the earth and special spots where this energy was stronger. They made these places visible with standing stones, mounds, temples, and sacred art. Feng Shui is one form of this aspect of the Third River of Healing.

My favorite way to reconnect myself with the earth's energy is to walk barefoot--or sleep on the ground. One Wise Woman told me she has walked barefoot in the dew every morning for over eighty years!

Interesting.

I've experienced/felt some of this subtle energy through handling of crystals, but am still not convinced as to the effectiveness of healing properties.

Thanks, judah.

when i was about 12, the huge comfort i received from lying flat down on green grass, the smell, the support - well, i went back there immediately when i read Susun's closing lines.

Walking barefoot used to be my favourite thing to do till broken glass made it impossible to trust even freshly sown fields.

As for crystals, when i end up in a store, i know which crystal to buy - i feel it. But i'm not really into studying the use of crystals to heal & I'd need to study and experiment with them before i could come to a conclusion.

Barefoot it is, at most any musical event we attend. I have to take off my show when playing music, too.
