Dr. Claudius Conrad is one of the first people to ever conduct an official scientific research investigation as to whether or not music truly does have positive physiological effects on the human body:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WFTeH3aFLm4

Link to the actual published research paper (Right Click & Save As): www.mindoutpsyde.com/uploads/conrad_music.pdf

The study provides strong evidence that listening to whatever music the patient likes the most reduced the patient's blood pressure, heart rate, stress hormones, and need for pain killers, in post-operative patients.

Don't take my word for it though, check out the video and research paper, they are both very awesome! :)

Interesting read. Easy to buy into. And applicable on many levels, imo.

For instance, the affect of music on a person under the influence of an active sacrament is another topic I find interesting. Psychological healing, maybe? Some have even reported accelerated physical healing  due to music and sacrament, but it was purely anecdotal.

really appreciate this article. Thanks so much!
Now i'm wondering if applying psytrance music to special ed english lessons, might ease the transfer of information.

Mozart might have to come later.

By the way, really recommend the book, The Tao of Music, by John Ortiz.

Another great book is called This is Your Brain on Music
a group of us, on peyote, had little to share with a group on marijuana

the marijuana smokers were discussing questions of the utmost profundity and we were sticking our fingers in our navels & giggling
