Irie,
So I've just come across this plant.....Fruits are huge..
Anyone know anything about it?
Found this in me searches...and note the last sentence //http://www.barbadine.com/pages/passiflora_quadrangularis_lien.htm
I assume that it's flowers maybe the same usage as passionfruit.

I love passiflora sp. The flowers are just sooo alien and trippy looking.

Stonehenge

Yeah, the roots have poisonous and narcotic effects. I would not risk the poison to get the narcotic part. The fruits sound interesting. I try to stick with stuff that has a long history of use behind it. There are a surprising number of things in that category that we don't know about.

Just for example, the bark of a tree known as mulunu. It's been known a long time and has sedative and narcotic effects. It's also used as a medicine and helps with liver problems and other things. I plan to try it.

Irie Stoney,
Not sure if I would try the roots....but the flowers are definitely worth investigating.IMHO
The fruits grow as big a melon....very odd!
Glad you brought up the mulunu, my father-in-law good liver troubles....and we got a lot of trees around....thanks! :bravo

Hola Zaka

We call these "grandilla" here. My wife has cooked with the fruits before. Not very interesting if you ask me, But hey when you havn't eaten for a few days im sure they would be pretty good. Did you try eating the fruits at all?

But the flowers are very cool. I grow them for the flowers. :)

Irie Cas,
Most of the time rats eat the fruit out.
My intention was to grow for the flowers.....
Still waiting on that cutting to flower!

They can take a while to flower i noticed. Longer than most passiflora spp
