worshipping idols?

One day the master was walking through the forest.  There he met a man offering him wares.

"How do i know beyond a doubt that you are an honest man, and that your wares are of the quality you say they are?", asked the master.

The merchant, recognizing in the master the qualities of a ...master, showed him a necklace he was wearing, on which was the yin yang symbol, symbol of the Taoist faith.

"Do you know what this symbol means?" replied the merchant.  "If you believe the symbol stands for truth, you know you can trust me."

"Before i answer, let me ask you a question" said the master.

The master pointed to a rock on the ground. "Do you know what THAT means?" he asked and walked away, leaving the merchant staring at the rock, lost in thought.
