Revising the Chat Icon on the Main Page

could you shorten java chat link also while you're at it? so on the yage.net:9000 radio page we can have a shorter link to it, something like yage.net/spfchat ...thanks!!

I think it needs to be changed, and a few others I talked to agree, which is why I asked Kemp. My revision was done so it could happen quickly, til some slicker image or whatever comes along. Kemp said do it, so I did it. It works for now, in my view.

As for the tiny url, I thought of that too but then wondered if we wanted a permalink like that. I think something like spiritplants.org/chat would work better for us since it is more memorable.

Sure I don't use java much but in all my years as a member, I've never had to remember the link. Thats what favorites are for. Either way this isn't really a big deal.

the point of making the link clear is for new people who arrive here by one means or another, look around briefly, and maybe understand that that icon indicates there is a chat, but maybe do not...it simply does not stand out clearly as "click here for a nifty chat room!"...clarifying its purpose is a good idea...but we're waiting on kemp to weigh in still

I've been trying to learn some graphics with Gimp (free tool) and came up with this -

It's still not what I want but... if its that important, we can use Cenny's or mine... I don't care.

Honestly, there are more important things that I need to work on first. The upgrade still needs to be completed and until then, we will have the post errors.

That link will redirect to the mibbit site... unless I somehow write an ajax chat client but, don't hold your breath.  :smoke2:
