On Coast To Coast A.M. last evening, Daniel P. (author of Breaking open the head/ Journey into psychedelic shamanism), talked for several hours with host George Noory...  Discussion ranged from Mayan warning about 2012 date, to ayahuasca as medicine, to Hopi predictions...  Those that enjoy hearing the authors perspective can find more at WWW. Breaking Open The Head.com..........  IMHO, the guy is a more clearly defined version of Terrance McKenna..............  senorsal---------------  edited to show title of book as "Breaking", not cracking open tha head

Yes, I listened to that... need more on air touting the health benefits of ayahuasca... the next night they had a surgeon from South Africa on shamanism. In addition to being a surgeon he does healings by "magic."
Go to http:\coasttocoastam.com for his name and more info.

Talk radio is main form of entertainment nowadays. Allows me to do things while listening...

coast to coast w/ george noory and art bell is a great show though the the audience can be a wacko, but at least they are entertaining...

Just read where Jerry Springer's radio show is going national... gotta see if I can get it... he's a good ole liberal democrat.

NPR is great... Cant stand any of the other talkers though... they just like to put down liberals and call them names... I listen to Rolly James... she's a libertarian... and like any libertarian I agree with half of their views...

i read Breakingopenthehead, and greatly enjoyed it. i been working on a review of it, which i will share when finished and prettyed up with pics/links and all.

i think that eventhough Pinchbeck and MCKenna are "entheogenes" related, i still think they have very different approaches. differences due to age difference, time difference, cultural differences.
I find Pinchbeck less "fluffy" than MCKenna. Or perhaps i feel more attuned with a character such as Pinchbeck than a MCKenna. as much as i enjoy MCKenna's work, it is moslty his poetic mind and the way he is capable of expanding the ideas in his mind into nice and comprehensive images that i enjoy. so, i rather see him more as a poet, as to Pinchbeck is more of a journalistic trained writer, ie, less fabulations.

Both are to me entertaining in their own ways and worth studying. I do get issues with MCKenna and his so called "predictions". i do not believe anyone can tell the future, no matter how much dope/hallucinogenes they put in their bodies. they can project probabilities...that is all...

NOT to forget that MCKenna himself probbaly did not believe in his own speculations:
here is an interview with Christian Ratsch which most of you probably have read, but is worth keeping in mind:
"I asked what he thought of Terence McKenna’s time-wave theory and his prediction that the apocalypse could occur in 2012. "Complete bullshit. Hmm hmm." Ratsch had once asked McKenna if he really believed the time-wave theory, and McKenna had answered, No, not really. "But that is because we are good friends," Ratsch said. "He wouldn't admit that in the public."
