This T.pachanoi has a sprouted a little growth on top.  :o

What do you think the cactus will look like a few years time?

Welcome to spr.

In a few years time the pup on top will prolly get big enough to snap the mother plant at that weak spot shown in the pic.

Nice shots, btw.

What happened to the tip?
a group of us, on peyote, had little to share with a group on marijuana

the marijuana smokers were discussing questions of the utmost profundity and we were sticking our fingers in our navels & giggling

I don't know what happened to the tip, I lent to someone for a couple of years when I was living somewhere with not much sun  :?

I am wondering if it will put all it's energy into growing that pustule, or will the main stem still increase in height at the same rate?

What causes T.pachanoi to start branching?

if it's really big or damaged it will brach.

Cut a 3 inchs of a tip and it will pup & branch.

They basically grow from the tips, the stem will gain girth in time.

Bigger pots or in-ground growth can really power-up Trich growth =)

i remember a few years ago, starting a project where i would purposly destroy the apical mirstem(sp?) so it would pup, attempting to get a bushy looking pach. was an interesting concept i never really saw through since i moved away and left the collection with the family..

A few years time? Look at what it did in a few months. You should slice it and replant it before it kills the mother. Although this may be what happened at the mother's week spot. Though, it would be beneficial to both to replant the child. It is large enough in the august pic to replant.
