thanks for this link repe ... domino made a post askin for people's opinions about peak oil and this site really makes the point very clearly.
Since you posted this the price of crude has risen again and America has decided to tap into Alaska.
I think its prolly a good thing if oil runs out ... it will give the earth some 'breathing space'.

i agree Cassie.  the world went and got into a big hurry to quote from 'Shawshank Redemption'.  i've been doing alot of reading and things are becoming clear.  one thing that is clear is that i'd rather live like the Amish than send my dear sons to bleed in the desert; protecting the oil supply so that the economy can roll along and the major corporations can further their ends.

president bush will not speak for me.  does it matter if peak oil is ten years away or 6 months?  our way of life is certainly negotiable.  when we change our system of loaning money into existence based on the fallacy of an ever growing economy, i.e. pyramid scheme, we will then have a chance at attaining a true economy.  the very word 'economy'  is in stark contrast to the reality of the engine of destruction that has been created by oil.

their is reason for optimism but more reason to be realistic.  we can by a concerted effort preserve the best of what we have achieved.  renewable energy sources coupled with extreme conservation measures can still enable us to leave what is good of our technological world for our grandchildren.
