I'll keep you posted, jrl. I was hoping you would maybe come out if'n it goes down....

I think a run at the Warfield starts reel soon, but we won't be making it out until a little later. Depends on dates to yet be announced.

I'm guessing Jackie will always keep his side project, but he's starting to look real comfortable with the psychedelic scene.

Some Bobby songs have been introduced and Jackie has been doing an amazing job singing and playing with an intensity that could match the best of Bobby's, imo.

Well, I'm sure that he isn't done making his own music. He is showing the depth and legs I hoped he has. Playing with Phil, well I didn't see that one coming, but it is one of the best things that could have happened to him. I'm sure Phil's wisdom of the rockstar life will help him through the minefield. I remember doin the parking lot circle with Jackie and talking about what the music life does to relationships.

Well keep me posted, it sounds like a good time. And looking at my calendar, I got plenty of open days, unfortunetly.

Jackie has been playing his own songs on stage with Phil.

Jackie finds himself in the center of a psychedelic storm playing to sold out crowds most every night that he takes the stage with Phil. While I'm sure even Phil would tell Jackie to keep his solo gig, I'm guessing that soon one will see the influences of Phil and the gang even at those shows.

Jackie has some marvelous musicians in his band, Nate and Jeremy are friends of mine and my arch nemisis Bruce Spencer plays drums, and he is a great drummer if not a so great person. The boys feel a bit abandoned, they don't make enough when they are out with Jackie to support themselves when Jackie is out with Phil. Nate told me they got to hang with Phil and play with him when he came down to Santa Cruz to a Jackie show.

Yeah, it's too bad for the guys in Jackies band, but I'm guessing Jackie sees it as a chance to develop his chops and make some real money in the process. Phil has a ton of loyal, rabid fans willing to fork over dough whenever the boyz hit the road. Molo, Molitz, Campbell and Lesh are consummate pros. And ego doesn't appear to be an issue on stage

Anyway, I hope to see a lot more of Jackie with Phil in the years to come.

Well that's show biz. One day you are jamming with Phil, next day trying to sell your Telecaster on craigslist so you can eat. Comes with the territory.

I would never expect Jackie not to take the gig for his bands sake. Dream gig of Dream gigs. I heard Phil is paying him well, something he is not  known for. He really has taken the shine to ***** ****** (Jackies real name)

Having said that, IMO what has seperated Jackie from the huge pool of talent in the world is his drive, direction and ambition(and astute managment). That is what enabled him to come onto Phil's radar, and the experience and exposure will turn him into someone he never could be otherwise. It's all about the dues you pay and the company you keep.

I'm so proud of the little guy. I remember telling Cen about Jackie years ago and how I thought he was gonna be famous. Ray thought it was the fan in me , but it was the long time observer of the scene in me doin' the talking. I think TJ took a picture of me and Jackie playin at the Sacramento Heritage Festival, I ought to put it up somewhere.

Nothing little about Jackies soul, imo.

I'm hoping his time with Phil finds him steeped in psychedelia. Maybe put a new spin on his career....
