I'm a little curious about any effects S. divinorum has on sexuality or sexual intercourse and orgasm.  Any comments?

It almost always gives me an erection when I use quid or tincture.

I never tried enhancing a sexual experience with salvia though.

I often find the post-smoked salvia state to be accompanied by horniness.  Whether it's a pharmacological response, a coincidence, or a survival response to a "near-death" type experience, I haven't figured out yet.

Sex during sublingual salvia use i.e. quidding is often markedly intense, but I must admit there have been occasions where I was unable to reach climax--- believe it or not, it's possible to get "distracted" from the activity at hand.    The intensification of orgasm is on par with the combination of sex and other psychedelics, particularly in one respect.  To be graphic, it's possible for ejaculation and the onset of orgasm do not necessarily coincide.

I think sex during a smoked salvia experience is likely impossible.  :D

I've found that the 'afterglow' period brings with it an intensified tactile appreciation; hence the heightened response to stimulation....  I experience an intense horniness 4 out of 5 times I am coming out of a Sally experience....  Orgasms are, for lack of a better word,,, orgiastically intense  --------  senorsal

the mazatecs say that sexual contact must be avoided 3-4 days after a quid, I don't know about smoking, or else you will go crazy or something bad will happen, hopefully just supersition eh mates?

The first half dozen times or so the sexual drive was like a wild animal . Then right in the midst of this "desire" I said NO to the urge and redirected the energy towards focusing on deeper revelations. Since that time, I have never experienced that drive again .

Alright, since I'm such a chicken I offer someone a test.  Masterbate up to the point of ejaculation, and then take a couple hits of 5x or up while continuing to masterbate the entire time through.  Wait until you are quite effected before allowing yourself to ejaculate.

I know what you mean X. about performing sex, but this a bit different.

I'll wait for the report!!!!

With no disrespect intended towards the Mazatec, Catholism influenced them in many ways.  The Catholics were and currently are not fond of the notion of "common" folk using real sacraments.  This influence can be seen art, laws, culture and in language for example "ska Maria Pastora". Sometimes indigenous beliefs were persecuted and the only way for the old traditions to survive was through adaptation and trickery.  I like to remember the Lakota/Dakota tribes in North America.

When the sacred Sun Dance ceremony was forbidden by U$ officials the tribes started celebrating in secret and coordinating the event with the 4th of July (U$A Independence day).  They would carry on their traditions, gather together, but drape themselves in Red, White and Blue flags to appear patriotic and accepting to the outsiders.  Sometimes deliberately false information was spread to conceal the true nature of the activities.  The Grateful Dead may be a more modern example.   Therefore, I take everything with a grain of salt.  Not to say I don't read everything I find about the Mazatec, as I feel they have more experience than I.  Except, testing at the source is the only way to know for sure.

Sally hasn't told me anything specifically about abstinence or not smoking. Actually, several times (I think at least five) I've found myself in a vortex of sorts and encounter the same female entity, sometimes several beings, that I can't quite make out, but seem infinitely familiar and friendly.  She or they always first tell me I smoked some salvia.  As in this state I always totally forget I took salvia. Then while I'm remembering and integrating my new environment, they tell me things like "hurry up" "come through" "you didn't do enough to cross over and be with us" "go back and quickly smoke some more". It's never worked, that I've been able to cross over to that dimension and has always ended with her just telling me to smoke more and try harder next time.  Not specifically, sally has shown me smoking is very powerful and one should be respectful and approach her with some well thought out intentions.  Also, sex can be distracting or can relax one and allow them to clearly meditate, depends upon the person, time, place, etc..  Anyway, I certainly consider the guidance of the Shamans that have gone before me, but these aren't hard and fast rules that I follow on my path.
...and as if from the inception of time itself I realized I was and had been for sometime, elsewhere, elsewhen or somehow, quite seriously, otherwise...

my belief is that all (or at least mostly all) religions have truths and deductions... some also have blatant lies used to control the followers as well, but I'm not gonna talk about that right now...

since religion isn't something you can really approach with scientific method, most of the things learned and followed in religion are just things that seem to be true, that just continue to be followed... Salvia seems to be especially unstable with easy and difficult experiences... what I read about that sex rule is that if you have sex within the time period after, your next journey will be a difficult one... it's possible the first shamans that experimented with Salvia as an ally had that happen to them a few times and started following the rule and the knowledge just got passed down from generation to generation... doesn't mean it's true for everybody...

in my opinion, religion should be something somewhat fluid... not bound by strict traditions... keep the truths, weed out the not-so-truths and obliterate oppressive values, where they exist

Heh, If I have the opportunity in the near future, maybe I'll give this a try.  I might have to have an assistant involved, to ensure success.  :D

Ah yes, this would elliminate the need to maintain the focus on physical action.  Perfect!

I will patiently wait to hear results...if I don't try this first.

Seems most of the responses are from men!  Speaking from a woman's perspective, I can attest that for at least a week following a session with the Lady, I have orgasms while asleep.  Normally that doesn't happen, so I assume it's from Her influence.  There is no marked desire during or after the sessions (at least not while I'm awake).  I feel there are other, more playful plant allies who can enhance sexuality.  I consult with Salvia when there's spiritual work to be done (and sometimes that work is not pleasant) so I consider the dreams a gift.

In regards to abstaining from sexual relations for a few days before and a few days after a session, I suspect that in part it could be to permit the build up of that energy for Salvia's use.  To 'save' oneself for Her can help set intention and show discipline.  It preserves a ritual feel and keeps it from becoming something one does on a whim, to break up a bored evening.  That's my take on it.  YMMV.

i am not sure how salvia works chemically in the brain, it seems to be the exception to the rule, but if it works on the boosting the serotonin receptor (with meletonon, 5 meoDMT and DMT being close related family members) like other phycedelics, it should decrease sexual desire.

now this is interesting, and gets philisophical. the pineal gland in the centre of the head is like the brains sexual organ. stimulate enough, as in a case of say someone do blissfull meditation(call it brain foreplay), living in a dark room, someone on phycedelics or someone experiencind a NDE, it actually grows larger and sythesises/edjaculates those holy pineal chemicals (i am sure you can pick up on the analagy. if not think!). the rule is that when the pineal gland or spiritual sexual organ, as i have sometimes heard it being refered to, is enlivened, our physical sex drive is lowered; when the upper increases, the lower decreases. i am trying to think of other comparisons - etheric orgasm over physical orgasm.

drugs that work on the noradrenaline or norapifaline neurotransmitter, such cocaine and nicotine, should increase sexual desire. note that noradrenaline is yang/masculine/active. serotonin is like it's opposite twin, yin/femenine/calming.

i am wanting to read more on how salvia functions chemically. if you know any good sources, please let me know.
