Yes, they managed to crack whatever thingie was in place to stop them before.  They cannot post to the site though as they are not authorised members.  What do you think about hiding the memberlist until this rash of fakes has been cleared up?

*bump* ... these wannabe spammers are still showing up on the member list but they cannot post to the site so its not a priority issue.
Just to reitterate: newbies, please don't use a nickname that is of the form 'name123'.

roach's directions above for deleting bots are spot on...now we need a list of bots to be removed...ideas for an efficient process?

There is no automatic way to do this because some people are registered with names and numbers and some of these are new.  Registrations from peeps with names and then numbers which could be real I have authorised: eg. 'enlightened1', 'Bunnytu2006', 'James73'.
One must be quite careful because we are an international forum and many peeps don't have great english. It is also quite common for people to use a name and birthyear or name and current year when registering at places.
There are some really obvious registrations from the sex and loans industries but again, they aren't authorised and can't post at the site.
