Pretty much everyone knows what Absinthe is right? Well, everyone that knows what it is knows that you can't buy it in the US with any wormwood in it. It's the wormwood that makes it so much fun to drink (gives it the psychadelic effects). i was wondering if anyone has ever tried absinthe with Salvia?

Actually, while it's not exactly legal, absinth is bought all the time in the US. There are European vendors who will ship it without hesitation. You can even buy "collectible" absinth bottles on EBay, but you're supposed to pour the contents down the "drain" when you get it.

As for something similar with Salvia, yes, I know people who have made it, including the owner of a botanical shop that specializes in herbal kits for making liquors and teas (Illumina Botanicals). The people who have made it have liked it, but the Salvia doesn't really impart any psychoactivity to the liquor.

i have not tried absinthe with salvia.

wormwood to this day has not proven to be intoxicating in any way, and real absinthe is made up of 20+ herbs, some of which include fennel and other mda, or "DMMDA" precursor containing plants.

i dont think absinthe's power lies in the wormwood at all, but more of a peyote-like mix of precursor alkaloids from different herbs.
I was born to do this

Quote from: "BotanyGuru"wormwood to this day has not proven to be intoxicating in any way...

Depends upon what you mean by "proven,"
Research suggests strongly that thujone is a modulator of GABA-A synaptic receptors. It also has been shown to have low affinity for cannabinoid receptors, although it is currently believed to be too low to account for any activity.

Interestingly, it has also been
shown to exhibit 5HT-3 receptor activity, although just what this "means" is hard to say (most classical psychedelics exhibit activity at 5HT sites, but the action is at 2A, not 3).

Edit: for some reason the hot-links aren't parsing corrently...

I smoked some wormwood I purchased at the local mexican market in their spice section.  Very mild effects - but did seem like something was there.
...and as if from the inception of time itself I realized I was and had been for sometime, elsewhere, elsewhen or somehow, quite seriously, otherwise...
