I stumbled uopn this rather lengthy piece concerning acid rock/christianity/mystery religions this morning on the egodeath web site. I find it interesting that the author is able to define and identify both "high" and "low" examples of "stonerism" within the above framework, yet neglects to mention the good old grateful dead anywhere in the piece. That omission leads me to the conclusion that the author has probably not ventured into that particular layer of this cosmic onion. Its almost like watching someone with no experience in the kitchen approach said onion for the first time, remove the leathery skin, pop it (the skin) into his mouth, chew for a time and then proclaime he's ready to write a whole cookbook about onions.

Someone should tell this guy there is more and that he just has to poke around......

a group of us, on peyote, had little to share with a group on marijuana

the marijuana smokers were discussing questions of the utmost profundity and we were sticking our fingers in our navels & giggling

Yea, I saw that article before.  Could get much past the low vs. high stonerism.  The guys love for Rush and Ozzy (high stoners of high order mystery religion) or something like that, gets a bit old.  And the glaring omission of The Dead is blasphemous.
...and as if from the inception of time itself I realized I was and had been for sometime, elsewhere, elsewhen or somehow, quite seriously, otherwise...

LOL I decided to contact the ego death dude in order to invite him to experience a real show but decided against it after clicking on the contact link provided above. The guy obviously has better things to do with his time than read my driveling/sniveling/groveling invitation. Heck, I'd probably mess up the subject line and be disqualified from jump.

It sounds to me like Michael Hoffman needs to get out more. As it stands, his work on entheogens and rock music reads like something an archeologist/anthropologist could come up with a couple hundred years from now after stumbling on a disc of "metal's heaviest hits" and a partial sheet of acid in the liner notes.

Speaking of inviting certian people to a "real" show - that Ann Coulter seems to think she's a dead head.  Al Frankin plays dead music during his show.  And Randie Rhodes - she doesn't necessarly claim to be a dead head, but she seems friendly with Willy and will give Ann hell.

Ok, I know - no one in their right mind would invite Ann Coulter to a real show.  But really, she'll be running out of the theater before half-time.  Then Al, Randie, Willy and us can all hang.  It'd be cool.

tstt: Never underestimate a witch. Never. I doubt Ann Coulter would go quietly into the night. Rather, I'd expect much weeping, knashing of the teeth and maybe even a vortex of pure e-vile to materialize upon her awakening. But that's nothing a good old bucket of water wouldn't take care of in short order......
