Oh man.....This is turning into a corporate board meeting.
Perhaps it was not a good idea folks.

Heck, I think its good that we are communicating.

If evolution was easy, they'd call it "growing pleasures" rather than pains.  - the book of laughingwillow -

growth is fun afterwards when we all retire to the cavern forum and relax.

Wow  ---  Nitroburn has hit on something really significant IMHO....  The idea of dual admins...  Something so seemingly simple.. It would appear that dual admins would be the perfect safeguard to the place crashing -n- burning if just one soul decides to go on permanent hiatus ala Eddy---------  ''Train kept a rollin all night long" ....  {as an aside}   Does anyone find it strange that there has not been so much as a peep from the absent Eddy? ?   Seems as if he'd have to know people would at least want availability all that was stored in the ole archives etc....  Strikes me as a sort of careless....  'Course, for all we all know, Eddy might have checked out in an auto accident or what have you :?: ----  senorsal

Winder, that was a very good post and I agree totally with what you said. I am comfortable with all the people who have been mentioned. I think we have a lot of depth in the field of possible administrators.

I suggest we decide on a few things.

1. How many admins are we going to have?
2. Will there be one person in charge who makes the final decision or will it be up to a commitee vote?
3. How will we select the administrator(s)? Who will get to vote, all present members including new ones, only those who were members of spf before or what?

My thoughts are that one person should be at the top to make the final decision. That does not rule out a board of directors. The board could be all mods, or the administrator, technical person plus site host or some other grouping.

A vote on potential administrator candidates would seem to be the most democratic method. I'm not running since I only recently was designated a mod and am not sure who to thank for that. Long time people such as the ones who have been mentioned, would seem to be the viable candidates. Are any of them interested? How about if we decide first what sort of structure we are going to have, then select a list of admin candidates and vote on them?

Who thinks we should have one admin who runs things and takes suggestions from members and mods? That's basicly the way Eddy did things. Who thinks we should have a board in addition to an administrator? What functions and powers would a board have if we went that direction? Should we have 2 administrators as senor and Nitro suggested? That would provide a backup if one was busy but what if they couldn't agree on something? Maybe the board could settle some administrative questions if they come up when the top admin is busy or away?

this has long ago become a cartoonish thread, wasting and sapping the community's time...andy and nitro run the site as admins, this means that they have tech powers to fix stuff...the mods watch out for the forums...i'm in sort of a dual role to keep an eye on things...i dont see why this has to change...

i'm beginning to lose patience here...this site has been up for one month from the ashes of the old spf...we have over 100 members, a full slate of revived forums, mods, admins, and most of our regulars have returned in some form or other...

what is the problem then? i dont see one...i see discontent on the part of a very few and a lot of others trying to sympathize and respond...but i do not see a problem...

my tolerance for hand-wringing goes so far, then i start to get restless with it all...

i dislike even posting to this thread because it keeps it going...but i just want to say to you all, my brothers and sisters, that others are watching our new place here with admiration...we've got it up, going, let's figure out things like getting more aspects to it...maybe a enth documents library? interviews with leading figures? what else?

the leadership is more of a non-leadership, enough to keep an eye on the  wheel but not really much more...between me andy and nitro you dont have enough czar to fill a tea cup...

eh...

You may well be growing tired of it,I myself feel the same, and have little to add except for this.

If Eddie were to show up tomorrow,I would leave. Between his public posts, and His pm`s to me, which I cannot disclose content, I have concluded that between what he did to the previous SPF,and the Donk, that he appeared to me a dishonest man.

If this offends anyone, too bad. I`m going on my experience, what I saw, and what I learned from him.

But we,in my book, have you now.I appreciatte that you say your hand will be light, and I, as an individual, among very many, can contribute.

There was a pretty good stopgap wisdom shown before, whensomebody was on their own,and Eddie ruled from chat(which he did,I clearly remember his post where if SPF were go go down, there still be chat.)

  Not me.

I prefer to speak for and on the record. The forum should operated at that that level,in the open.

And Iappreciatte what you have done.May the wisdom of the long Run hold firm in your considerations.

     Thankyou for this site.

thank you for being supportive and dont worry, good people have the keys to this SPF...if Eddy shows up, we'll find a way to work out a resolution, but that does not include going back...

but it's not about eddy at this point...it's about a sense of discontent i'm beginning to see is not widespread...people are generally happy with how things are...and want the stress to mellow out...

that is my wish too, as a member...i think if the drama goes on, it will be more and more apparent why...i hope it begins to dissipate...that would be best for all involved...

i'd rather be posting my anti-bush screeds than this frankly

Oh, yeah cenacle.
The anti Bush seeds are certainly more worthwhile and they should be sown from the highest mountain tops to gently fall on fertile ground till they sprout and tower above the Bush walls of oppression.

quote cen:  that is my wish too, as a member...i think if the drama goes on, it will be more and more apparent why...

Would you care to elaborate on the above statement, cen?

More appropriately, I would like you to elaborate, please.

I've rethought my position, cen. Don't bother elaborating for my benefit.

We live in different worlds and its time ot get back to mine now.

Oh, and one more thing.........

If you really think this site needs more women, I would recommend treating the ones who frequented spf on a REGULAR basis with a little more respect.

Judih was a daily visitor at spf. I'm sure she will do the same on your forums here. As long as you are the admin and have power to move the world, why not give a sistah the credit she deserves and make her the mod of your beloved library?

hey, i heard my name.
(blush)

but, i don't need mod status. i trust the cenacle management implicitly in that literary realm.

thanks, lw. i'm old enough to remember when 'mod' meant Carnaby St.

No drama Cen.,it`s simply  my respect for an individual who did the down and dirty, that is, who actually ran this site ,on eddies behalf. It did not go well for him or a concept of the right thing. This indivi. caught it from all sides. Rather nasty,

I will leave it there. Theres some cross currents, and my personal position is to be grateful, especially to you, and to accept ,..to a point, what might be questionable(LW did make  a good suggestionthere, but I can`t speak for how the other individ feels)

      You sure are not Eddie

You instead strike me as a good person, with some concepts.

     I respect you,but I also respect lw.

So,I shut up and not do another post in this thread.
