a group of us, on peyote, had little to share with a group on marijuana

the marijuana smokers were discussing questions of the utmost profundity and we were sticking our fingers in our navels & giggling

It's been Miles for awhile now.
My son's been working on a paper on Miles' influences in and on music and well, i've got All Blues and So What permanently in my mind.... (from the album Kind of Blue)

sigh...there's no one like him/them .....no one

though Jerry with Grisman also gives us a version of So What.

edit: Just caught Grateful Dawg on TV! Jerry and David ---unbelievable - so much like being there...

Kind of Blue is a landmark record and one of my favorites. It's innovations set the stage for fusion and jam bands.

i was just going to come in and confess my most recent obsession - Antony and the Johnsons - Perfect Day

Till now it's been Antony doing Candy Says and his beautiful harmonies in other songs on Lou Reed's Animal Serenade.

What a bitter-sweet voice - Perfect Day is just a whacked out astral travel version - totally between the lines....haunting. Beware!

and yeah...Pizza Tapes...yum

for a couple of weeks now i've been returning to shpongle's 'nothing lasts...but nothing is lost'...when i first heard it some months ago, it did not hit me, but i think it was simply too overwhelming...i now see how they have made an album every bit the equal of 'tales of the inexpressible' and 'are you shpongled?'...sampling the movies 'waking life' and 'apollo 13,' and returning to terence mckenna for more inspiration, this album is more of a long suite, a symphony, an epic multi-part high, hard, low, secret, blustery, joyous swoop...i recommend highly, esp since it may be the final sphongle album...simon posford said something about liking the idea of trilogies....i've been thinking maybe i should try listening to all three albums in a row...
