I don't mean the little buzz you may get for an hour and I don't mean the trip itself. I mean a mood elevation for days or even weeks afterwards. I gave up on the trips some time ago though I may try it again if the mood strikes me. What I like is that you smoke a little, or whatever your method of ingestion is, and if you were depressed before, you won't be afterwards. It works right away for me and for lots of other people I've talked to. I just use a little bit, just enough that I know I took some and that does the job. Anyone else notice this?

Yep, you know it Stonehenge.  Put "Salvia depression" into a Google search and you won't be disappointed.

Definitely a wonderful mood elevator...  When I first began using the Lady, it was apparent from the get go that she was an ally for a great mental outlook, lasting for (for me), between 12 to 24 hours after usage...  Matter of fact, I found myself stopping my prescribed Zoloft and having no need for such pharms any longer...  This has proven true for several years now...  As my time with Salvia has lengthened into years, I do find that I only intermittantly smoke for "journeying".  On the other hand, I take a few puffs, 1/2 joint of Salvia nightly, to destress and ward of clinical depression...  My doctor is perplexed, but agrees that I seem to have found a 'non drug' way of addressing my depression  ---  senorsal----------

My experience with the Afterglow lasts for at least 3 days after an excursion.
During which time, I am afforded the impenetrable “Salvia Soul armor”.
Curses and all other kinds of nastiness bounce right off and roll down the street back towards the suckers that launch them.

We've noticed a very empathogenic afterglow that's very condusive to opening up with a partner ... even if the partner cringes at any physical contact during the initial overt effects during the first few sweaty moments of the experience.

Hello,
I recently ordered salvia leaves from botanicmagic.
I tried chewing them and nothing happened. I smoke them in a pipe, took lots of hits and nothing.
Could you recommend a place to buy?
What form of salvia do you recommend?
thanks a lot

However, I would still recommend plain leaf.  Read up on reverse tolerance. You might try the trade wind forums here if you have something to trade.

barrosluco, are you looking for the afterglow mood elevation or are you more interested in the trip itself? Are you experiencing depression now or what are your goals with salvia?

The leaves were most likely fine....chewing is an art from almost, very tricky,  your enviornment and mental state  are critical.   smoking just leaves and not extract is not easy either, as they are sometimes harsh.  do some more research and that shoud help. good luckhttp://www.sagewisdom.org/

Hi Stonehenge,
I have been cronically depressed for three years.
I am interested in trying something for chronic depression, but I'd like to get some specifics as far as forms of salvia that work for this. Do you use plain leaf, extracts or tinctures?
Thanks a lot an please let me know what works so well for you

What works for me is smoking plain leaf. Take a quantity, smoke it and see what happens. You should get results within an hour if you are going to get any. If nothing happens, try a larger amount. Keep going until you find the right dose. After you've used it a few times you may need less. The results can feel like a miracle or be very slight. I've had both types of results at different times. Sometimes it lasts for days and days, sometimes I need more the next day.

Some people give up when it doesn't work right away. If I smoke some and it doesn't do the job, I smoke more. It has never failed me.

Kinda wierd to report, but I noticed something akin with meditating. One thing that I hated from meditating was having a sexual thought caused me to be able to bat a 1000 if you get my drift. I got the same thing from Salvia after the trip. My best conclusion was that my mind was no longer cluttered with several thoughts at once and I could direct my power of thinking on one subject.
Be careful what you wish for

Kind of off topic, but if you are chronically, as in medically depressed (as I have been diagnosed)  you have probably been told that the depression problems likely stems from  a serotonin imbalance eh??  I've stated many times before that Salvia has completely cured my depression, but, if that has not happened for you...  let me suggest a bit of Kanna usage...  Scientific papers state that it acts on the same receptors as St. Johns Wort but that it is much faster and more efficient at relieving depression.....Note, it is a SSRI, so should be cautious about taking Kanna with MAOI and the like....  They also urge that no alcohol be used , but I have done so repeatedly with no adverse effects....   good luck and good health---------  sal
