You should try it without the music. Quiet is good. The sounds of night are even better. I usually sit on my back porch with no more then my porch light on and do it. Granted I use it to enhance things that are external to me as opposed to understanding more internally. So I like to use it outside as I can listen to my surroundings (a water spicket dripping that I wouldn't normally hear or outside life I wouldn't usually notice) and have things to see (trees and the sky, etc.) For someone that ones to have a more internal experience the best place might be laying in a bed with the lights off or very dim.
