Just wondering:

How much time do you spend with your growing plants?
Do you: think about them, stroke them, baby them, speak to them?
Do they "give you something back"?

Have you had any mystical interactions with them?

Very much so. I can spend hours with my cacti. Just looking pouring over, almost agonizing if I see one having a problem or is in poor health.

I tend to do this with plants of an Ethneocentic nature. rather silly,I know, but I do feel after a while something'2-way' has been established

i tend to watch over and admire my garden, i find my self inspecting my cacti daily, nmice to get the fresh air in the morning too, watching them grow...stroking has resulted in numerous injuries...
the restof the garden gets watche din ore, i like to check on the plants asasp, but they get neglected when i go away to uni so i make up for it when at home
its more than a plot of plants for harvest, its a growing entity to relate w/

When all is going well, I spend about 15 minutes a day with my plants.

During that time, I will prune dying leaves, check for pests, water what needs it, and admire the beauty and change (finding new cacti pups is always nice in summertime).  This fall was a treat with the fragrance of Brugmansia blossoms indoors for about 1 month.

It's kind of like communing with nature. Plants are tranquil and I think we absorb some of that tranquility when we are around them. I tend my plants every day particularly the ones indoors which are usually the smallest and most vulnerable ones. I like being in the woods with no signs of civilisation around. In my area, there use to be woods within walking distance, lots of wooded areas totally undisturbed. Now of course it's all been developed and you have to drive quite a ways to find the woods.

I spend about a half an hour a day in my plant room. A very cramped half an hour since there's little space for anyone to stand or move around, which makes caring for them difficult sometimes, but I still enjoy it and think of it as good therapy, especially during the winter. I will probably spend a little more time than that in there today, taking pics and doing some feeding.

That part I very much relate to VPirate, even if I`m lucky enough to go outside and see my cacti.

Winter is not my favorite time, and seeing something green and tended to like my cactus actually makes  me'feel better'.

If I lived in a colder clime,I`d do as you, create a grow room. Learn all about indoor lighting and that. Though the bill(read Winder`s post) could get high.

Aye the greenkin are amazing to watch and it is a symbiotic relationship, the more time you spend with them and taking care of the the more they give back. Though i do try and avoid stroking my cacti(ouch).

I speak to them play them music, basicaly anything that they enjoy i try and do, as to nurture and love them is to nurture and love life itself.

Talking to the greenkin and such has revealed a lot to to me bout mankinds connection to the plant world and one thing i have found is that the plants have in increadible memories...they are a reminder of who we are and where we came from. Unlike humans whom forget so easily.

What they have given me is a respect and wonder for mother nature and the cycle of life....i really can't think of any better gift!

Spring is here, so happy Spring to all those that leave in areas where there are seasons. To whish you a happy Spring coming, here is Loulou, a cat hard at work, busy rolling around, chasing his tail and purring in the grass.
Its funny to watch him enjoy the Spring weather as well, sprouts coming out and warmer weather makes him purrrrrr.

so Happy planting and good rolling around in the grass! :D

I spend at least an hour a day with my plants...  Not so much caring for them but just giving them a once over, watering, then just looking at them... Admiring them.  I have 15 salvia plants and they all have names :-D  I need to get my digicam working so i can take pictures and put the pictures and the names up on the net! :)

Plants are amazing... Since I started growing I've noticed that I have more energy and that I'm happier.  I think it's sort of like having a child or something of that nature (no kids so i can't quite say that).

GTB, I agree wholeheartedly. It is really pleasant to spend some time with your plants. It's somewhat less pleasant when you have to bust your butt doing some work but afterwards, you are glad you did. It's really relaxing to spend time around them. Plants are so tranquil and peaceful. You can sense it when they are happy with their surroundings and treatment.
