In theory if it flowers and has viable pollen that will fertilize it, yes.

Some folks (in areas where it is legal) have been able to get them to flower from seed in about 18 months, a couple of years is more reasonable.

YES! I think a peresk grafted seedling will flower for sure in half the time it takes the average peyote gorwing on it's own roots to flower. Maybe even in a third of the time under optimal conditions.

Have some lophop's grafted on peresk. 1 month ago, and they are already bigger then some of my 1 yearolds.

damn....

ive always wondered....

it seems like the lopho pup would out grow pereskiopsis pretty quickly....

will the girth of the pere keep up with the width of the button over many years??

also.... what about grafting onto juvenile trichs.... will the trich continue to grow in girth... matching the growth of the pup??

The stock will grow wider but not much. Old grafts on peresk can often be see to be suppported, the stock can break under the weight of a large cluster of pete.

There are some pics out there of huge peyote ontop of pereskiopsis however im sure they must need some sort of support..more novlty pieces really.  I have my first pereskiopsis/peyote graft atm, i can already notice within a few weeks the scion increasig in size..it even has some mini tufts starting :)

I am still yet to find any decent information on comparative alkaloid content of grafts compared to naturaly grown peyote,  anyone have any nformation on this ?

Estimation of mescaline and pellotine in Lophophora coulter plants (Cactaceae) by means of the oscillographic polarography

    [Article in Russian]

    Gabermann V.

Oscillographic polarography has been applied for the mescaline and pellotine estimation. These alkaloids produce in 0.5 N NaOH electrolyte a sharp peak within the cathode region of the oscillogram, each of them showing different potential. It makes possible to estimate them at a concentration of 5.10(-6) g/ml. All the forms of Lophophora williamsii were found to contain mescaline and lower content of pellothine, L. jourdaniana--to have equal content of both alkaloide, L. diffusa and L. fricii--to contain pellotine and only traces of mescaline.Plants grown in the greenhouse accumulated the same amount of alkaloids as native plants. Grafting on roodstock which does not produce essential amount of the alkaloids, does not affect the ability of Lophophora to synthesize mescaline and pellotine.

It  seems to be the case that a strong clone of Lophophora it will be as strong as a graft as it will be on its own roots, however Lophophora is known for seasonal variation in potency and the usual environmental factors also apply.

I've not bothered to try and get seeds, but I've seen blooms 1-2 times a year from grafts

i think its more important to provide the cacti with a confortable environment as to induce flowers...

i find that with cacti... a dry greenhouse..... that gets nice and warm in the sun... even using 50 percent shadecloth... in warm climates....... will kick em into drive... so that once the fall rolls around.... they will exhibit vigor and flower year round alot of times....

consistant environment is the key... or course.... not any environment.....

high mineral content in soil... limestone... gypsum.. crushed up pumice stone....sand....
good amount of sunlight.... direct sun is too much alot of times... try diffused light....
keep the dew... rain... off of em.......
water em yourself... and watch em to see what they like

yup... good luck

what about dormancy?

yeah.... a cold dry dormant period would probably help....

i guess it also depends on the cacti/succulent too...

native habitat and such...
