It's a slow one to root and kind of difficult. I shave part of the bark off the cut end and put clonex on. You can put them in damp sand or soil and keep under a clear dome. I use 2 and 3 liter soda bottles with the bottoms cut off for that. It generally takes 2 or 3 months before you see growth. I sent a cutting out to someone not too long ago and she reported that it started growing.

The way I do it is to clip off all but a few small leaves on the end. I select a cutting about 6 or 7" long. I dab clonex on the end and wrap with a wet paper towel. I put that into a plastic bag and send in a crush proof container. I only send kratom cuttings within the usa. Outside the country you need a phytosanitary certificate and it's a lot of hassle with the delays and all.

i would like to take a kratom-cutting from my plant, and do have a few questions too, hope it´s ok not to start a new thread.

i read the "sphagnum moss rooting method"-thread in this forum, and think i´ll try it with sphagnum moss, rooting hormone and then put the cut-off plastic bottle on it. i´m not sure which part of the plant is best for rooting. would be 15 cm branch ok for that? would it be suitable for rooting, when it´s stem is still green, or would it be better to cut off ca. 15 cm from the top part of the plant? how many nodes schould it have at least???

That sounds alright but keep in mind that kratom is hard to root no matter what you do. I would want at least 2 nodes on it. Sometimes roots only come from a node and you want one node up top for leaf and growing tips to emerge from. As far as I know it makes no difference what part of the plant you take the cutting from.

Damn, that page is hard to read. But I got through some of it. He starts by saying how "easy" it is to root kratom cuttings and then goes into a rather complex, non-easy method for doing so.

I haven't rooted any kratom cuttings, but when rooting barky plants in the past, I had good results with airlayering: http://aggie-horticulture.tamu.edu/exte ... layer.html

At least you don't have to "look for mist, open bag, close bag, look for mist...." Sheesh.
