A few days ago,I got around to planting my new brace of Torres and Torres. They are good looking cacti, dark green and to my eye, closly resembling Pachnoi.

In fact, that is the source of some fustration to me. These cacti come from Chile, Pachnoi from Ecuador/Peru. What are the differences betwixt the two? why is one native to one area,,as oppossed to the other?

It probably won`t help me,but I ordered the newest version of Trout`s Notes, sacred Cacti..the "B' section concering Trichocereus. Part 'A' btw,is coming out on DVD! That should be interesting too.

Oh,and I also got my White flowering Grandiflora, also. Sometimes this nursery will suprise me,i got this big hulking thing. It`s of course a clumping Trich, and that`s where it all stops (I think),but hopfully it will flower. Because they are white,i wonder if they will be nocturnal? Got a place for it on the other side of the house.

It may be the result of the distribution of the cacti as an ancient sacred species. The area of distribution is still in the area occupied by the Incan empire and their forbears.

Trout's Notes 3rd B is a great read, I love it, but it basically says that it remains to be seen why the Torres clone is found where it is. It is a desirable clone.
