On this week's show:

* Featured New Rock Album: Dawes, *Passwords* (2018) . . . Sixth LP by this Los Angelese rock band . . . moody, pretty, yearning . . . troubled . . . the music froths with feeling & grasping . . . intense yet often soft, mellow . . . more enigma than it may seem at first . . .

* Featured Classic Rock Album Redux: Neil Young & Crazy Horse, *Everybody Knows This is Nowhere* (1969) . . . Last heard on the 9/19/2004 broadcast of this show . . . NY wrote several of these songs in one day in a high fever . . . the whole album is a fevered rock & roll dream . . . a loud-soft groping in what felt like end-times . . .

* Storybook Time*: Continuing Chapter 16 of *The Unconsoled* by Kazuo Ishiguro . . .

* Readings from *Many Musics*, *Bags End News*, & *Labyrinthine* . . .  & this week's featured artist is XTC, some of their final songs together, some of these while wearing their secret Dukes of Stratosphear costumes (shhhh!) . . . just passed anniversary of me as a boy long ago first diving deep into worlds of my own mind . . . still doing that . . . still it's nearly enough . . .

On this week's show:

* Featured New Rock Album: Punch Brothers, *All Ashore* (2018) . . . Chris Thiles' prog-bluegrass crew serves up another great platter of tunes, swinging passionate & fine . . . they call it a nine-movement thought about "committed relationships in the present day," but you can also just groove along as you will . . .

* Featured Classic Rock Album: The Grass Roots, *Let's LIve for Today* (1967) . . . Trippy folk-rock by this many-hits-wonder from the late '60s & early '70s . . . the lyrics are sweet & yearning, & sometimes searching, but it's the music that really makes this record stick so nicely . . .

* Storybook Time*: Continuing Chapter 16 of *The Unconsoled* by Kazuo Ishiguro . . .

* Readings from *Many Musics*, *Bags End News*, & *Labyrinthine* . . .  & this week's featured artist is again XTC's resident genius frontman, Andy Partridge, & more songs from his *Fuzzy Warbles* series . . . weather's gotten wrapped-in-plastic hot here in New England & elsewhere . . . yet a few colored leaves, here & there, are reminder of the cool to come . . .

On this week's show:

* Featured New Rock Album: Great Lake Swimmers, *The Waves, The Wake* (2018) . . . This is the seventh LP by this great Canadian folk-rock band . . . a beautiful, ethereal record . . . one to slow for, give full ears to . . . let wash over you, & the rest all away for awhile . . .

* Featured Classic Rock Album: Camper Van Beethoven, *Key Lime Pie* (1989) . . . I love this California band of weird, literate, cracked Americana punky rockers . . . musically brilliant, funny, dear, ribald, strange, charming off any charts . . . this was the last album they made before breaking up for some years . . . dark, sad, when not wonderfully silly or sweetly moving . . . i recently gave it a really good listen for the first time in years, & have listened & listened again & again since . . . now to share . . .

* Storybook Time*: Continuing Chapter 17 of *The Unconsoled* by Kazuo Ishiguro . . .

* Readings from *Many Musics*, *Bags End News*, & *Labyrinthine* . . .  & this week's featured artist is again XTC's resident genius frontman, Andy Partridge, & more songs from his *Fuzzy Warbles* series . . . a long-time friend of mine at my job left for other attractions . . . life is about loss & loss & loss unless one works at balancing the ledger . . .
