Hey, long time.

Anyone know where ayahuasca components are being sourced these days? I'm really interested to know if the components are still being wild harvested, especially since the churches and the tourism aspects continue to grow. Doesn't seem sustainable if thats the case. I'm especially interested to know if small land owners are cultivating these plants for sale (i assume they are being sold).
Anyone know anything about this? My interests are academic. I'm wondering what the economic contribution of these plants might be to the people that grow them.

Thanks for any help

Its my understanding there are some m hostilis farms in brazil and other s american countries. B caapi grows so fast you hardly need to cultivate it. Are you looking for sources? The govt is stopping most shipments from coming in.

no i was just curious. I find myself in need of a thesis lately and I thought it would be interesting to follow the supply chain of the ayahuasca church and see what kind of impacts (positive and negative) the church/tourists/etc are having on people who live where b. cappi is harvested/cultivated. I imagine that the increased income or exchange in some form or another has been fairly beneficial for some places, and perhaps less so for other places.

I knew that m hostilis had some farms, and being a nitrogen fixer and of fairly high economic value, that might be a really interesting component of a farm system to take a look at. I'm hesitant to put that to paper though since its in a grey legal area almost everywhere...at least b. caapi has legal status for church use in some places.
