Hey everyone,

There is an occupation street protest happening on Wall Street in New York. Here are the links:

Live feed: http://www.livestream.com/globalrevolution
News coverage: http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/headlines/2011/09/wall-st-protesters-say-theyre-settled-in/

It's quite a thing to see hundreds of people put themselves on the line in this way. Take a look for yourself.

Peace,
Raymond

Yes, there is a lot of crookedness in wall st as well as other places like congress. What do these people hope to accomplish?

I've heard on the web that these protests are spreading all over the world. However, the mainstream media is keeping a tight lid on it. I have not seen a word in the paper. I wonder if the powers that be are afraid of losing control?

Yup Stoney, you are right.   Apparently this "occupy wallstreet" movement seems to have some legs for sure.

And quite likely that's why you haven't heard anything on TV, just on the net.

Keep an eye out for a possible false flag, maybe something surrounding the internet.  They'd love to shut that down, particularly with all the wide-spread use of various social media like Twitter.

Just my 2 cents.

Val

I think when I first heard of it it had been going on for more than a week. Although admittedly I'm inconsistent in my news reading.

They are starting to report on it. This could be the groundswell of a movement that brings in change. Voting for politicians who promise change has done nothing.

Hi all,

I read this essay this morning and think it very much worth sharing:

Good article, ray. I've gone from saying what do those people want to becoming one of those people. I haven't posted about it here but i've been going to the big rallies in  my area and also to the workshops which are weekdays.

The tea party is not our enemy, even though the media i'm sure will try to spin it that way. We have had members of the t.p. attend our meetings and it has been productive. We've gone from demonizing the other side to a better understanding and rapprochement. The t.p. wants many of the same things we do. I'd say they are more conservative overall than occupy but we  have found common goals.

One of the problems is since it's a leaderless movement, everything has to be discussed to death and try for consensus. Meetings tend to achieve little so we have gone to breaking up into smaller groups for an hour to has out particular points. This has helped but its still kind of slow moving.

We get along fine with the cops in our area and try not to break the law. I called it a yuppie revolution because instead of burning down city hall or having a riot, we refused to pay for a permit to gather. That was our big act of civil disobedience so far and it was on advice of council that we could get away with it.

I think everyone should attend the events in their area. Just show your support. This is a chance for real change, not phony campaign promises which are fed to the ducks after they get in.

Agreed, Stoney. There's lots of potential being pursued. I'm going to post a letter I've written to Obama soon. Right now, here's another excellent post to chew on:

Hi everyone,

Recently, MIT professor and scholar Noam Chomsky spoke at Occupy Boston. I believe his remarks are valuable to read. I've not always agreed with Chomsky, but he is taking Occupy seriously, and his thoughts are relevant to what we who support Occupy need to think about and do going forward.

Raymond
