Just found out that Owsley died today in a car accident near his home in n Australia.

I was just reading some of his essays this morning.

RIP Bear...

I loved the man, his essay on psychedelics is most astute.
I met him once in the 70s and corresponded a tiny bit.

He was pretty sad about what happened to the Dead, said that it went south when they stopped taking acid and playing together.
a group of us, on peyote, had little to share with a group on marijuana

the marijuana smokers were discussing questions of the utmost profundity and we were sticking our fingers in our navels & giggling

I also recieved a few portions of his handiwork...  Had an impact that is still echoing ...  One of the countercultural icons...  Dance bear, dance...
