Hello,

Maybe anyone know, where I can buy this in Europe?

osiris7

Doubtful you can buy a live toad shipped from the U.S.

I suspect that they are available in the pet trade there.  However the herp pet trade typically has a rather unpleasant view of those who are interested in the B alvarius's venom chemistry.  I suspect that you won't find them for sale unless you are sufficiently immersed in the herp culture community that they would trust one of their 'children' to you.

If you can care for B. marinus you will likely be able to speak about toad care fluently enough that you might find some leads.  Bear in mind that keeping amphibians alive and well in captivity is somewhat more complex than keeping a dog content and happy.  Those who have taken the time to be able to import and breed captive amphibians are understandably interested in making sure their animals are well cared for after they find new homes.

I also suspect that when excess B. alvarius are dumped into the pet trade, they are deliberately mislabeled so as to not end up purchased and skinned by some drug addled nit.

North east  Australia on the coast is flooded with cane toads containing 5meo and bufoti9. Talk to someone from there, I'm sure they'd be happy to send a box full of the invasive critters they hate so much!

They have a reputation of being common and mean, and thus undesirable, a prof. once told me.  He took trips to the amazon and mentioned yopo snuffs.  I got the feeling they could be bought easily but that since they were drug producing and unpopular that they were a little suspicious on any retail level.

Bufo marinus, a drug toad? I think I have the trout's notes thingy on this.

Isn't this a very toxic toad? Are there any reports of successful shamanic intoxication arising from any kind of ingestion of Bufo marinus?

If Aussies could get high from these toads, they would all be out licking them...

But they ain't.  :baffled:
earth peace through self peace...

It is toxic, i think the suggestion was to "practace" with one so as to know enoigh about herp care as to be able to talk the talk.

don' lick no toad...
cardiotoxic glycosides orally active, potentially lethal, destroyed by pyrolysis...
smoke dried spit, maybe...
psychoactive tryptamines survive smoking...
i heard the cane toad only has 5OH-dmt, & not 5MeO-dmt...
ah but i was so much older then...

The toads venom has been reported active through inhaling vapour and or smoke. Even when one woman bashed a toad with a hammer the venom went into her eye and she describes how the effect changed her life, and the show gets all psychedelic as she gains new respect for the frog. Vapor actives prove 5meo is there. I have smoked yopo, no effect, no positive effect anyway, Ott describes that yopo is active nasaly. There must be a short preparation used to make a toad snuff, a really good one as it contains5meo and bufotenin. When the elephant steps on your phace just think of it as Ganesh blessing you. Maybe some hydrated lyme you get in the spice packages at the Mexican stores?
