a group of us, on peyote, had little to share with a group on marijuana

the marijuana smokers were discussing questions of the utmost profundity and we were sticking our fingers in our navels & giggling

We saw it and thought it kicked ass. As a matter of fact, I was thinking of starting this very thread, bruddah.

Stevie Wonder's set just plaine rocked, imo.

It did kick ass. I missed the first hour twice but got to see some great stuff. Paul Simon doin Here Comes the Sun, and then the tunes with Artie. And what a band he had.

Didn't like U2 or Springsteen, they just don't speak to or for me.

I thought Metallica was just great. They looked like a bunch of high school kids playin wth Ozzie. And Jeff Beck was brilliant as always. And him playin Oowee with Buddy Guy!!!!!

I hope they DVD it!

SImon and Artie sounded great. And I did manage to catch Here Comes the Sun, even though I was in the kitchen when they started up.

However, I couldn't help but remember a bit Wally Ingram used to do concerning Garfunkel when Wally was playing for D Lindley some years back. It seemed that Wally was invited to join Garfunkel for some shows in Japan. And apparently he didn't click too well with Artie. If I remember correctly, Artie apparently got pretty uptight when a doobie was fired up at the first rehersal. (Before leaving the states.) After the practice session, Garfunkel told Wally he liked him but not the sound or volume of his drums. Wally thought he was joking, but when he arrived at the first venue in Japan, his drum kit was tucked way back in a corner AND surrounded by plexi-glass. From that point on ,Wally said he started thinking of Artie as the Anti-Groove.......

Anyway, Stevie Wonder was the keyboard player for the first set. Jeff Beck came out and did Superstition with Stevie and they just rocked.

I also really enjoyed J Beck's set with his band. His bassie looked like she was having a blast.

i hope the camel train rolls into israel soon with this show.
sounds amazing, jrl and lw.

mr. garfunkel, math prof, square root of hmmmm. (interesting info, lw)

JRL

It was good, Judih. The players all seemed to be having a blast.

Tal Wilkenfeld was grooving her ass off with Beck. Years ago we asked Roger Smith what it was like playing with Jeff. He said it was like being on stage with a Tyrannosaurus Rex.

Well, Art was the boss, the marquee doesn't list the sidemen. Like me and my rhythm section partners in time say "One is where the guy that pays you says it is."

Paul and Art are a weird team, so different as the years go by. Paul is a grooving mofo and Artie is "math prof, square root of hmmmm". But he still can sing the birds outta the trees.

There is a story about Stevie and Beck and Superstition: Stevie reportedly wrote it for Beck, but liked it so much he cut it himself. Jeff was not happy. He wanted to get it out first.
