Just a simple shout out, as I have not been around much lately...  Recently I got ripped off of all my belongings (backpack/sleeping bag/wallet/etc) so it's been a hassle running hither and yon putting that type of stuff together again.  Have a great day etc...sal

steal the man's stuff
you can never steal the man

sal, you continue to exemplify the high road or 'what's stuff got to do with it'
thanks,
and hope hurricane weather leaves you alone

Lost my boots in transit, babe,
smokin\' pile of leather.
Nailed a retread to my feet
and prayed for better weather...

Glad you're hanging in there!

[By the way, do you enjoy being a nomad, or does it get old at times?]

Aw shucks  ---  Thanks to all for the kindness shown.  Yep, this latest loss of the proverbial 'stuff' was different than just being ripped off.  Usually, it's a situation in which you've stashed your gear in a supposedly outta the way and secure spot, only to ultimately find that a 'bushbeater has been lurking around and absconded with said belongings...  This time, I was walking around and noticed one of the power drunks of the area.  We were sitting around shooting the breeze, when he handed me six bucks and asked me to make a beer run as he was not in condition to walk well...  As I was straight, I agreed to make the run...  When I got back with said brew, he and my gear were nowhere to be found..  I waited around, even ended up drinking all of the beer :P ---  I caught up with the guy at the local park the next morning, but he had no remembrance of the previous night nor the whereabouts of my stuff...  Another day in paradise.........

Yeah, still around..  Hmm, as to does this 'lifestyle' get old at times??  Sure; but then, what path doesn't??  There are times when I'm solidly glad that I decided to 'go offa 'da grid'...  There are other times, when the hours of the day get to be a humdrum collage of empty hours as the same ole same unfolds once again...  All in all, it took about two years for me to really 'get it', to actually be at peace with virtually no posessions, domicile etc...  At times, I look with a touch of longing at someone driving a nice car around. pulling bills out of an ATM, walking into a lounge with a cover charge, etc..  At other times, I see the grimace on the faces of those that must trudge along, doing the nine to five, and I have a nice and satisfying feeling of ease and tranquility...  I'm guessing that in the long run, in the big ole final analysis, it's all just a matter of perspective....
