Mushroom snuff?

Ive been immersed in 'True Hallucinations' by Terrence McKenna recently and of all things, one thing that has me most curious is his mention of making a mushroom snuff, finding it very pleasant. I am curious as to what the opinions both objective and subjective are towards this preparation method. I am especially curious as to the pharmacokinetic effects via this route (onset, intensity etc). Personally i can not decide if it would make for a more intense or for a smoother experience. Obviously, intensive experimentation by oneself is out of the question so i pose it here.

There is no such compound as a mushroom snuff.

Terence and Dennis were snorting ash/lime doses of DMT, dimetheltryptamine, not psilocine/psilocybine.

A dosage of P. cubensis takes from 3 1/2 to 5 grams of dried mushrooms. That would be 3,500 millligrams of powder once crushed. in that 3,500 milligram dose, only 15-25 or 30 milligrams are psilocine.

So eating shrooms is the best way of  doing them. Fresh better than dried, and eating them instead of preparing them in a food or beverage..

But there is no way anyone can snort up 3 1/3 grams of dried powdered shrooms in their nose to get an effct. You would gag.

Thats what I thought. Seemed a little ambitious of an operation, unless it was only being used as supplement to oral dosing. I must have mis-read the passage that made reference to it. choose some more potent strains and cut it down to a gram or so and it could still make for an interesting experiment/ amusing for anyone else watching.

Dried liberty caps or P. cyanescens are potent at 500 milligrams/  but it would be like stuffing cotton in your nose.  It does not dissolve like a hydrochloride chemical.  You would just be plugging up your nose so as not to be able to breath in it.

And thepowdered DMT compounds such as epena and yopo are blown into one anothers nose.  You could never snort the amounts the Yanomamo Indians blow into each others nostrils.

I have never heard of a mushroom snuff either, I suppose its possible, but with my experiences ever fresh plain psilocybe cubensis is not that powerful without a curing drying method.

Fresh P. cubensis takes one fresh ounce or over or 3-5 dried grams which would be equivelant to a Mazatec ceremonial dosage.  By weight, P cubensis are actually one of the weakest species of the 200 or so varieties worldwide.
