Hey, gang. I just logged onto the site and attempted to read a thread in the long house by the new guy, I LOL. My browser got hung up on what appears to be massive graphics embedded in the post. (I ended up shutting down the computer and rebooting after watching my machine w/ cable connection spin its wheels for about 10 minutes.) After reboot, I ventured into the next thread new dude created in the mountain and my browser got hung up again and I was forced to reboot. (I'm not clicking on the guy's third offering.)

I have no problem surfing the net nor reading other threads at spr, currently.

a group of us, on peyote, had little to share with a group on marijuana

the marijuana smokers were discussing questions of the utmost profundity and we were sticking our fingers in our navels & giggling

I just banned the person and removed all their posts. Sorry I didn't get to it sooner.

Dang, I missed it.  Were they just insanely large graphics, or was there evil intent behind the posts?

laughingwillow

No way to really tell, amom. It could have been either, imo. But I did wait around long enough the first time I got into one of the threads to see it was working up something graphically.

The titles of the posts were a little strange. One in the mountain was called "The Mountain?" Anyway, the guy was the last to register and his first three posts threw a spanner in the works.

kemp: The guy made the posts last night and the issue was taken care of pretty much right away. That's about as good as it gets, imo.

Anyway, did anyone manage to view the thread content being discussed?

The forum won't allow any nasty code to be posted and it appeared that it was just a very large picture/graphic. I do think the effect was definitely intentional though.

I will keep an eye out more closely but it looks like I might have to turn on the admin approved new account registers... too bad that some retard kids have to ruin shit for everyone else but I guess that is to be expected on the interwebs. I will either turn that on or see if there is an option to only allow members with above 30 posts (or something like that) the ability to post pictures.

Thanks for being on the alert everyone   :smoke2:

I just found the picture in my temp files and looked at the details of it. There is no doubt it was posted with bad intentions like crashing a browser. It was a normal picture by the size on disk but when you open it, the dimensions were extremely huge so it took up an enormous amount of memory in any application it is opened in. Kids stuff really...    :bnope:

I used to moderate an open mailing list. Requiring account approval goes a long way in keeping out spam and the like. It's a good thing to do.
